A Bit More on the GPS

  • Tomorrow is Fred’s birthday. He will be 83.
  • This morning I and my GPS went to K.’s house for two hours of art. It is interesting that our art is so different and yet we can be inspired by what the other is doing. I like her a lot.
  • The replacement for the GPS that died worked beautifully. I have to say that if I had known how helpful these things can be, I would have got one sooner. Things that I found particularly helpful were the little countdown on the screen which shows me how long to the next turn and which way I will turn. I very often confuse right and left and the arrow pointing in the direction I will be turning works very well for me. On the way home in an area where the legal speed was 55 mph, I was a little taken aback to be shown {in red!} I was doing 73 mph.  I had the woman’s voice on the way out and the man’s voice on the way back. I think I will stick with the man’s voice.

What I want to do tomorrow:

  1. I need to do a bit of tidying and dusting in the living room. "Tidying" basically means that all the piles of stuff become tidy piles of stuff!
  2. I may go out to the craft shop which is where I was trying for when the first GPS died.
  3. I need to get the dead GPS packed up to return to Amazon. I waited to do this until I was sure the replacement worked.

What I did yesterday:

I washed three loads of clothes and dried and put them away. I also stripped the bed and washed and dried the sheets and remade the bed, This got me thinking how hard I found these tasks after the hip surgery. I got to feel more normal VERY slowly, but now I can do these chores with very little effort on my part.

I love that you love the GPS. How long have I been singing its praises? I love the countdown thing and arrow thing, too, because then I know which lane to get into LONG before I get there.

I love that the GPS points which way you are supposed to turn. I often get my left and right mixed up, too! Your definition of “tidying” is the same as mine, it seems. :o) !! hugs, Nicky

We used our GPS to find our way to Winkler, right to our son’s house. It was very helpful, and patient with hubby when he tried a different route.

Happy BIrthday to Fred! Hugs,M

your loving the gps almost makes me want to get one. tidying up is one thing we do about the same way. take care,

Happy B-day to Fred. Glad your GPS problems worked out well. I could not travel into the unknown without mine now… I am so spoiled..

Happy Birthday to Fred. 🙂

I hope you had a wonderful celebration with Fred. My boss is in his 3 week post-op from hip replacement surgery. He is not a patient man in the first place and most definitely is hating how incapcitated he feels. I, on the other hand, am majorly impressed with how quickly he has been able to progress to the stage he is now…only using a cane. I hope you are having a great weekend.
