Mostly Art Stuff
- Art class this morning was enjoyable. I played around with something I started last week and I am still not satisfied. I brought it home and I am thinking I will put a gold glaze over it. I am going mad with gold glazes these days. Anyway, we {Teresa and Wiley, another instructor at the studio} met briefly to set up a meeting to discuss what I want from being mentored and can they help me decide what I want to do. The meeting is on Thursday morning, and yes, Thursday of this week. Next week there is no art class for my group since Teresa will be busy all week with children’s programs so that will give me a week to think about the mentoring program and make a decision. I think, however, that I am going to try it… Well. that is what I think right now. Who knows what I will think after the meeting?
- I have been actually making a real effort to get out and walk lately since the weather has been so good. Well, not today because I used up all my energy getting up early to go to art. And we had rain pretty well all morning, too. But for the last three days I have managed to walk around our block–all of 4/10ths of a mile! There are times when I think how pathetic that is for a person who used to walk a couple of miles a day, but that was before hip surgery and the annoyance of the anti-glaucoma eye drops making breathing difficult. I am not really into beating myself up so I don’t dwell much on what I used to be able to do.
I am grateful for:
the pleasure I am getting from this mixed media collage techniques class I am taking.
the Barbara Hambly back list books I bought for my Kindle a few days ago, especially the Darwar trilogy.
the pot of tea I have just finished.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people
to know why I look this way. I’ve traveled a long way and some of the
roads weren’t paved.

I think the walking is good. Since I lost my dog I’ve done very little walking. It’s good weather for it here really. Not too hot cos we are heading into winter.

I remember when you used to go for walks all the time and take pictures…back in your “Tree Otter” days. I do miss your photos. I wish the hip surgery had worked out better for you in that department, although I’m sure that you are relieved to not have the hip pain you once had.

I’m glad you are walking more often, and glad you don’t beat yourself up over what you used to be able to do, versus what you’re doing now. So what, about the “used to”s? What’s GREAT is that, when you COULD do it, you DID do it…..a lot of peopled don’t! And 4/10 of a mile is still a nice amount of fresh air, sunshine, exercise, and lovely spring sights you are getting in each time you do it! :o) !! hugs, Nicky
