Participants in Saturday’s event say they were trying to tell the naked truth about too much dependence on oil for transportation, and that cycling is healthier for the individual and the planet.

It was the Montpelier version of the World Naked Bike Ride, which is designed to promote bikes in place of cars.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” –Viktor Frankl

Very cool.

June 14, 2009

Just when I think that things can’t get any weirder…

June 14, 2009

That’s such a funny law…. you can be naked in public, just don’t take off your clothes there. 🙂 Fantastic.

What? No pictures? What kind of newspaper is this? LOL! Oops somebody already said that, but it bears repeating.

June 14, 2009

June 14, 2009

so you can BE naked but you can’t GET naked. makes perfect sense.

So silly!!!

June 14, 2009

Goodness, they would have been arrested here straight away!

June 15, 2009

That sounds liberating and painful at the same time!

June 15, 2009

in boulder, colorado they had to ride with undies on cause they would have been arrested for public nudity. take care,

I get a sore bum on my bike with clothes on. I dread to think…. It is very cool though … and brave!

June 15, 2009

Now there is a fascinating combination of laws: You’re allowed to be naked, but you’re not allowed to undress. Like so many other things, it reminds me why I’m a Libertarian. On another subject entirely, congratulations to you and Fred! (on your tenth anniversary)

Finally getting caught up with my noting and reading! There is a “tradition” on the AT whereby through hikers are supposed to hike nude on the day of the summer solstice. That event occurred when Gov Mark Sanford was supposedly on the trail!!
