A List
- Yesterday, I did lots and lots and LOTS of laundry! Well, to be honest, it wasn’t really all that much more than I usually do. I usually do laundry every eight to ten days since there are only two of us. It felt like more because I decided to wash sheets on the same day as I do the other two loads which I don’t usually do. Anyway, the bottom line is that it felt as if I did a lot more than I usually do, which leaves me feeling very virtuous!
- SO…. Today I am choosing to have a day off. The weather forecast says it is supposed to get up to 87 degrees today and be sunny. A good day for putting out the chair cushions and sitting out on the deck under the umbrella and with my Kindle.
- Hmmm, writing down the projected temperature reminds me that it will soon be time to turn on the window air conditioners so I guess I should clean the filters. It isn’t a big job. I just pull them out and give them a good rinse under the faucet, shake them well, dry off any very wet-looking places and pop them back in. During the summer I do quite well remembering to do this once a month. I will do them when I am finished here.
- I get daily emails from a group called KindleKorner. A couple of weeks ago, there was an email asking if there was anyone in Vermont who lived near Montpelier {the capitol} who would be willing to demonstrate the Kindle 2. I wrote back to the group saying I was quite close to Burlington and if he ever came there, I would be delighted to let him play with my Kindle! Anyway, we exchanged off-list emails and he told me that he actually did come to Burlington every few weeks. So, getting to the point, I am meeting him tomorrow in Burlington to demonstrate the Kindle. Don’t worry, I am meeting him in a public place with lots of people around. I am looking forward to it. I LOVE talking about the Kindle.
Today’s Positive Self-Statement: I had to push myself somewhat yesterday to do all the laundry, including folding and putting away everything, but I am pleased that I did it.
Today’s Statement of Gratitude: I am grateful for our nice deck, the sunshine, a comfortable chair to sit on outside, and, of course, the Kindle.
One thing that I will do to be kind to myself today: Sit in the shade, contemplate the grass which I don’t have to cut, and appreciate the fact that I don’t have to do anything that I don’t want to do!
"You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are
happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but
trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change
your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to
correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

"Enjoyment is not a goal; it is a feeling that accompanies important ongoing activity."

Who’d have known that a piece of technology could change your life to that level? Have fun…

Could Fred go with you when you go to demonstrate the Kindle? I guess I am cynical and suspicious.

Not having to do things one does not want to do is one of the greatest luxuries of life, and one for which I am most thankful also! :o) !! I hope you have a lovely day on the deck in the shade with your Kindle! hugs, Nicky

I finally got to put my hands on one at Reading Circle, and it’s so cool-looking. Sounds like you will have fun, because you love to teach people new things!

I am looking forward to the day where I can just read when I want and do what I want. Right now with two kids home from college I am always cleaning up some kind of mess. They do clean up but not to my standards. Enjoy the nice sunny warm day, we had it yesterday.

I love talking about my e-reader. 🙂 I had all the ladies at the dentist office oogling it and asking me questions about the sony vs. the kindle. hehe!

No Kindles for Canada, but I like my Sony Reader. Just finished reading the Lake House. Normally I don’t read much except newspapers but now that I have the Reader I am motivated. Could be the start of a whole new interest – reading books!

Maybe I’m just not cool, but what IS a Kindle, exactly? I get the vibe that it’s an electronic book? Like an i-pod for literature?
Warning Comment
You are making the Kindle sound very seductive… I know that it would certainly cut down on the overload of books that I have here.

just be careful Patricia, with bringing someone into your home that is a ‘stranger’. I hope this is a truthful guy and nothing happens. I’m reading on the Kindle too and Rich said he has to buy a new one now because he can’t read his books LOL

RYN – I know! I used to have these high energy days all the time, and I remember my older aunts (back when I was in my 30’s and they were my age) would say “Oh it makes me tired just hearing about everything you’ve done” and I’d think “I didn’t do that much”. LOL. Now these high energy days are few and far between, and like I said, I have no idea where today’s energy came from but it sure felt good!

ryn: Sometimes I WISH she’d be silent! LOL! Actually, though, some people just need to release stuff. Some laugh, some cry, some jabber.
