Making a Decision *

Another OD friend of mine, Gypsy Spirit, went to see Leonard Cohen not tooooooo long ago when he was in her country (New Zealand). She said it was an amazing concert! :o) !! hugs, Nicky

*chokes at ticket price!* One time Paul McCartney was in Las Vegas (a do-able trip for me) and my son and his wife and her mother went to it. The tickets were $250. the mother also went to Ohio and saw him in concert there, presumeably for the same price. I told a friend that for that amount of money, I should be able to bear his children! I loved John Denver and always wished I’d gone to one of his concerts, and never did. Then he died. But he never charged $250, either. In other words, I wouldn’t pay that kind of money to see anybody. But some people would. It’s all a matter of just how much you want to go vs. how much money you want to blow for that experience.

I think you should. I think it would be a wonderful treat for you.

I’m sorry that you can’t get a ticket. Keep checking. Sometimes things change for people and they have to sell their tickets. (((Hugs)))

What else are you going to do with the money? How much is the pleasure of listening to him in person worth? If you can answer those two questions, you’ll have your answer. I personally always err on the side of “I actually did that” rather than “I wish I had done that.” Sounds like a rare and beautiful occasion to me.

That’s a lot for a ticket, BUT, if this is something you have always wanted to do, and if you have the money, then why not? Enjoy life. Do things like that if and when you can. Life is too short not to! Hugs,M

Hmmm. That’s a lot of money for tickets (eBay or Stubhub if you still want to go.) On the other hand, many of our vacations have centered around concerts because the Other Human had the opportunity to hear his music idol, Stevie Ray Vaughn, play here. He chose to go to a baseball game instead, reasoning that he’d see SRV next time he played. There was no next time, thanks for a helicopter crash the following week.

oh, I’m sorry the tickets sold out. Still, at least you don’t have to make any decisions. I love that quote by Emmet Fox. It is so true.

Pity they were sold out, you could have had a mini vacation.

Ask yourself this: Six months to a hear from now, if you go to the concert, will you be unhappy with yourself because of the money you spent? On the other hand, if you DON’T go, then will you look back six months to a year from now and wish that you had? Personally I would vote “go.” But on the other hand, I’ve always been a huge fan of the Rolling Stones, and I’ve decided that I’mnot going to pay the prices they charge for their concert tickets, and I’m completely comfortable with the decision. (That comfort is also partly due to my already having seen them three times back in the 60’s when their tickets were a lot cheaper.)

ryn: does seem like I was doing him a favor driving him to school but in DE when the kids don’t show up parents get fined. I needed to make sure he got to school.

I live very frugally. I paid a lot for Tina Turner tickets last fall. So so worth it! And I learned I won’t have to pay that much again to enjoy next concert in the same arena. I can get seats just about $100 less and just off to side of stage and up off floor and get same experience. So I will go more often. Now I am better off. Why did I wait so long? Be well and enjoy the music!….dan

I think concert prices have gotten so out of hand. I enjoy the thought of going more than the actual concert much of the time. P.S. Got my new Kindle and can’t put it down

I would say go for it. It would be a great experience for you, and besides, you only live once.

$250 a ticket?! Eeps! It would have to be the event of a lifetime for me to spend that much… still, you can take the money that you were going to spend on the concert and do something really special with it. (huggles)

1. Can you afford it? 2. Will you kick yourself for ever if you don’t go? 3. Coule you live with it if you go there, after forking out for flight, hotel and ticket, if the concert was cancelled at the last minute? If part of you would do ANYTHING to see him, and you can afford it and don’t mind if things go wrong (though obviously that would be very uncool), then I’d say go for it.These things are ‘once in a lifetime’ and at his age, I’d say you’re correct in thinking it may be your last chance.

The only song of his I can remember is Suzanne. Many years ago, when I was taking a course in evolution, the professor asked what fossils are. My thought – fossils are the folks who go to see dinosaur bands. I’ve been to see Jefferson Starship, Santana and P-Funk in my later years.

I would have a hard time making that decision too, especially if it was someone I so loved. Sorry to hear they sold out. I’ve had that several times trying to see Aerosmith. 🙂
