Email, Snow & a Kindle Story

I got email from my younger son yesterday and he was surprised I got it and answered it because, apparently, Fair Point has messed up my account by somehow including an email address I haven’t used for many years.  This bounced a copy of the letter back to him Anyway, I called Fair Point this morning and now I am hoping  the stray alias has been removed. Fred said the CEO of this company was on television yesterday apologizing for all the problems people were having as they changed from Verizon to Fair Point.  One thing I will say for this company is that their phones are answered by real people rather than the press-one-press-two programs. AND, their technicians do not seem to be in India… Anyway, I was amused to hear this morning’s tech say just what my son said which was that there appears to be a "stray alias " file in there. He told me he had deleted it so I hope all will be well now.

After several days of hope that winter might be over, it snowed all day yesterday. However, although it is only 11 degrees at this time, it IS sunny and the snow on the windshield of my car has slipped downwards! I am REALLY tired of being indoors. I want to get out and look at things that I might buy if I had the money! Of course, if I stopped buying Kindle books, I would have more to spend… But the bottom line is that I prefer to buy Kindle books! Actually, I AM getting out after lunch because I have a prescription which has been renewed so I will walk up to the drug store.

A talking Kindle story. I was on the treadmill yesterday listening to the Kindle read to me and staring out of the window at the snow. I kept hearing the word "ecker" so I looked at the current page on the Kindle to see what an "ecker" was. It was actually an "aircar." I was rereading The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. To my surprise, the voice dealt with the name "Slartibartfast" quite well!

"You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

"Enjoyment is not a goal; it is a feeling that accompanies important ongoing activity."

I sure sympathize with your desire to get out of the house! I’ve only been in the house since Sunday, but I really need to get out! I did venture forth for a walk around my woods today. It is no easy feat, walking in a foot of soft snow, though. BUT once I cleared the snow off my backyard swing, it was very nice sitting in it! :o) !! hugs, Nicky

Nice quote by Emmett. You’re the first person I’ve met who has a Kindle! Neat. I read a book called “A Year in the Maine Woods” and the farmers there said if you still had half your firewood by Valentine’s Day you’d be all right. Gah! Winters are long up there!

I was reading the other day where Kindle has to limit the audio portions of the books to those authors who will approve it now. I guess some of the authors were afraid this was going to cut into their audiobooks sales. (((hugs)))

Spring Fever is bustin’ out all over, it seems! That’s why I planted my tomatoes a few weeks ago. It’s nice to go downstairs and see how well they’re coming along.

I like that Emmet Fox quote and the Kindle story is great. I laughed.

I am so hungry for colour and some flowers, and to be able to get outside without danger of falling! And reading Beverley Nichols’ books is just making it all the more acute.

Oh! It seems like forever that I have heard from someone who touched on Emmett Fox!!! Thank you, I thought I had lost my simple mind, hahahahaha. Wonder what he would say about that? Thanks and I was with a teacher of mine yesterday and she was very interesting, 94 YO and still sharp, was in training with my Great Aunt Dot. Who turned 95 recently! Be well and have fun….dan

Hitchhikers Guide is a favourite read for me. I usually reread it every ten years or so. Like being with an old friend. Years ago I had links to the British Radio series the book was complied from. I looked them up a while back and they were dead… 🙁

That email story is too technical for me! Isn’t that funny, how the Kindle could read a complicated name so well, but not the simple one.

It cracks me up the way the kindle pronounces things. ♥

I would have a serious case of cabin fever by now.

I still want to buy the KINDLE but hate to part with the money. Hope winter is over as I will soon be driving north.

A woman I know who has had various surgeries for recurring brain tumors asked me about the Kindle 2 yesterday. Since you’ve been discussing the various forms of this product for a while, I was able to give her information – albeit second hand.
