Eight Inches of Snow!

  • A couple of days ago I got a don’t-reply-to-this-email form letter from Amazon that I had never got before. It said something to the effect that the order I was expecting that day {second day mail} would be delayed because of a "natural disaster or bad weather!" Well, it was because of bad weather of course and the box arrived today.
  • Inside the box was a manual on-the-stovetop old-fashioned coffee percolator. This is for Fred because he thinks the electric one we have doesn’t make coffee strong enough. He just gave this new one a trial run and I had half a cup! It was strong enough to take the hair off a person’s chest {as my father used to say.} It even smelled strong and bitter. I put lots of milk in it!
  • Much to my annoyance, I discovered that I accidentally ordered a book twice from Amazon. I have the duplicate packed up and ready to go back and have filled out the appropriate forms on the Amazon site but what REALLY annoys me is that I have to call the post office and request a pickup. And I also have to tell them that the package will be in a plastic bag clipped to the mail box. Unfortunately, our wall-mounted mail box has no hooks I can put the package on so that is the way I have to do it. {I can’t put it in the mail box. I tried that when I was returning the damaged DVDs, and the mailman ignored it.}
  • You may be wondering why I am ordering dead-tree books since I have a Kindle. Well, half the new year’s list for the book club I have been able to find in Kindle books. The rest I had to order in used paperback form.
  • We had eight inches of snow. I cleaned most of it off Fred’s car but mine is still a snow heap. I will do mine tomorrow.

did fred like the coffee? i guess if he did, you’ll have to make coffee in two coffee pots. my daughter is expecting a package and it’s not arrived yet… most likely due to the weather in the midwest. take care,

I hates the hassle of returning things. Hey, you and Fred should try a French press for coffee. It’s strong, but not bitter. What happens with the old fashioned percolator is that you keep reperking the same coffee over and over again. Gross.

Egad, i double order all the time!! I am trying to be a little more organized.

LOL! That’s the exact opposite of what my dad used to say. He’d say, “That’ll put hair on your chest!”

*nods head in understanding about the coffee* The coffee I make is strong enough to remove hair from a large male gorilla. This is because Joe likes very strong coffee. Most other people turn green when they taste it. I have grown used to it by now! :o) !! hugs, Nicky

We have a small and a large percolater for camping. It is really nice when the power goes out! And does make a good cup.

Wow 8″ is alot of snow at once. Usually I ignore some of the ebay or amazon emails I get like that. I think they are illegitimate and people are trying to steal your information. Just be careful.

We got plenty of snow too, but with about an inch or so of ice on top of that. Hope you didn’t have to contend with the ice as well.

I have done that severa times with movies. I will be at Target ad see a movie on sale (usually part of a series like Pirates of the Caribbean) and pick up the sale one, get home and discover that I already have that one, its a different one that I don’t have! so annoying. lol

That is a lot of snow. I’m with Starting Over, strong coffee puts hair on your chest – difference might have something to do with that ocean in between our dads.

I like alibris.com. They have 1.99 books. Some are even in hardback at 1.99. And if you order from their warehouse and buy $50 in books (they are clearly marked which ones qualify, but there are others that come from other locations too), it’s free shipping.

I don’t drink coffee at all. I prefer a nice cup of hot cocoa!!!!! Hugs,M Oh, thanks for the virus protection info!!!!!

It’s been decades since I had coffee made in a percolator. I’m kind of surprised they still make them. I think that I am now too absent minded for them now. I’d forget to turn it off. I love drip coffee. You just have to get the blend that suits you.

P.S. That’s the only drawback of ordering online, the returns once in a while. I have to say that amazon was very good about it when I returned an expensive item a couple of weeks ago. That’s a lot of snow. I think we only had a couple of inches yesterday.

RYN: On the bifocals, did you have the supposed ” jumping ” that they talked about. I guess it’s supposedly something that your eyes do for a few seconds as they adjust from the lens to the bifocal lens. Bifocals would REALLY cut my cost alot. I’m glad you noted me with that as they were REALLY pushing the progressives and saying that was the way I had to go. Hugs,M

Strong Coffe makes me sick, literally. I bought the bold kind once by mistake and it took a few times to realize it was the coffee.// I ordered a CD from amazon twice in a span of 5 years. Iopened it 🙁 before I realized I already had it. I just ordered several book from the new/used section but got them new at a much cheaper rate. It is so awesome to save all that money even with the postage.

Wow, that’s a lot of snow. No snowfall here at all this winter apart from a thin covering that didn’t last more than a day!

In clearing and organizing in my mother’s apartment, I’ve found duplicates for THREE books. I am sure there are some duplicates in my place also.

Please be careful in all that snow. I don’t know you you all cope in that. I love the drip coffee I make in my ancient stove top pot. Automatic coffee machines just don’t cut the mustard for me …… Stay warm!!!!

We actually had sun today and it melted some of our second layer of snow. I do not know if we will get anymore but I am looking forward to summer.

I think we have had enough snow for the year. Are we done yet???
