Yesterday & Today
I really have to make more of an effort to keep up with what day it is. I was talking to Fred this morning and said something to the effect that the craft fair at the local school was this Saturday so I was going to make an effort to go tomorrow before my massage. He pointed out to me that today is Thursday not Friday! Anyway, I am still going to make an effort to go,but on Saturday morning, of course because in previous years the crafts have been of a very high standard. And of an equally high price too, I might add. One year I saw a lovely leather purse I coveted but there is no way I would pay over $300 for it. So, I will probably buy nothing but I enjoy looking.
Yesterday I went for a walk for 15 minutes round the block in the morning and then did 20 minutes on the treadmill after lunch. I hope to do as well today. I have already made a good start by walking round the block after my oatmeal and before my coffee. Usually I turn so that I go down the hill on Main St. but today I went the opposite way and went up the hill. Now, as Vermont hills go, it is a VERY wimpy hill, but it does take a bit more effort on my part which is a good thing.
I like the treadmill but I enjoy walking outside. This morning it was 27 degrees with a nasty little wind. I came back in with both my eyes and my nose running! And while I am out, I find I can plan what I need to do today very easily.
So, a list:
- Walk for 20 minutes on the treadmill later
- Make a quick trip to the supermarket to pick some clothes-washing detergent and some necessities for me like toothpaste and mouthwash.
- Clean out my box of cards. This is where I keep addresses and telephone number I need on a regular basis. It is STUFFED at the moment and some of it, like the addesses and telephone numbers of doctors in Mississippi, are cards I can toss in the trash.
- One thing I would like to do some time in the future, which means not necessarily today, is to hook another monitor to my Mac. I was reading an article this morning that pointed out that with Leopard, which is the operating system this IMac has, it is, according to the writer, VERY easy to set up another monitor. Now, I think if I do it, it may turn out to be one of those things where I say, "Oh, very neat!" and then go back to a single monitor but I may also find that it turns out to be just the thing I need. The problem with me trying it right-this-minute is that the only extra monitor I have is the huge CRT {not flat} one I used with my Windows computer, and to be quite honest, there is no room for it until I tidy up. Hmm, now perhaps that could be a good incentive for me to get this place shipshape. Anyway, if anyone out there is using more than one monitor, I would love to know how you find it helpful?
Until later…

I use 2 monitors at work. Once is oriented Horizonatally and the other is vertical. When I click on Word it automatically opens in the vertical screen, which is very handy for documents. You might not find that configuration so handy since you probably don’t work with a bunch a documents.

You are making great ‘strides’ in the walking department! I used to walk my dog everyday in February, even though it was so cold. Coffee in hand helped a lot! This makes me miss my dogs. And being so close to Vermont. Upstate we can get into VT in about an hour! *HUGS*

My son uses two monitors all the time and loves it. I have never tried it myself. Yay for doing so well on the treadmill. I bet your hip is getting stronger and stronger every day. I have read that exercise is very good for strengthening bones, even more so than taking calcium! (((Hugs)))

I use 2 monitors at work and I keep them both horizontal. I love them!

Somehow it always slips my mind that you are in Vermont. It’s one of the few states I’ve never been to and would love to see. I always thought the weather there would suit me and I have these romantic ideas about cozy houses and warm fireplaces. I don’t know how I’d do in a small town, I like the idea of it, but I’m so used to metropolitan areas. It sounds like you’re doing very well, the craft fair sounds wonderful!

I love going to crafts fairs too (but rarely buy anything). They give me ideas of what I could make if I ever got motivated to make something! :o) !! I don’t know ’bout having two monitors, but I nearly always have two Internet Explorers opened up on my one monitor, so I can do two things at once, or do something while I’m waiting on a slow page to load up. (This is handy since we have slow ol’ dial-up here!) We had twelve snowflakes again today! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

I have a feeling this winter is going to be rough – it’s gotten so cold so soon! I overheard a conversation the other day where one woman admired another’s purse. The woman who had the purse said she made them – for $400 – and neither woman batted an eyelash! I travel in the wrong circles for sure – $10 is my maximum for a bag.

The girls and I went to the craft fair this past weekend. I loved looking but you are right, most of the items are so expensive. I spent $30, a bracelet for the baby’s dedication ceremony, earrings for Skyelar’s stocking and a cookbook from the middle school chorus fundraiser. Not to bad…but of course they had quilts for $300 and up!

I am anxious to hear why you would use two monitors. I was trying to keep a few windows open at the same time but it really slowed down my computer.
