Yesterday

It is mildly embarrassing to find out that I walked around all day with smears of dried banana on the butt of my jeans yesterday! I found where I had absent-mindedly wiped my hands on that area when I came to put on the same pair this morning.

I finally got my car filled up with gas and Fred’s insulin picked up yesterday. I was a little annoyed with myself because I forgot to take my new prescription with me. It is for the drops for my eyes and is renewed every three months. I still have quite a lot left in the bottle I am using now so there is no emergency on that.

I am doing pretty well at walking on the treadmill. Last week and this week I am trying walking 20 minutes twice a day. So far, I have only made it twice a day one time but I AM walking every day. Yesterday when I drove up to the drug store and to get gas, I realized I had forgotten to put my cane in the car so I had to walk without it. I still have to make a conscious and deliberate effort to not lurch, but it does seem easier and I think I lurch a lot less. Of course, this may all be in my mind because I want very much to be walking normally again. Anyway, I am still organizing physical therapy in January to get some constant exercise for the abductor muscle. I have also found my little reading light which I have had for years! I put fresh batteries in it and clipped it onto the Kindle and voila! I do not have to turn on the top light to read the Kindle when I walk.

I have finished the Wideacre trilogy by Phillip Gregory. One thing I like about her writing is that her characters are believable. In the second book, Favored Child, the heroine, Julia Lacey, drove me to the point of wanting to shake her and say, "For heaven’s sake, Julia! Why are you allowing Richard to treat you this way!" But yet, because the character was so well developed, I really understood why she was allowing her husband to treat her so badly!

One great thing about the Kindle is that new books are constantly being added to the list of available books. A month or so ago, I was looking for Donna Leon’s mysteries which are set in Venice. They were not available then but some of them are now and there were two I hadn’t read. I downloaded free samples to check that I hadn’t read them before and then dowloaded the two books. Incidentally, I first discovered Donna Leon’s books featuring Commissario Brunelli in the foreign languages part of a bookstore I patronized a lot when I was in Lucca!

Ok, time to load the dishwasher and tidy the kitchen. Until later…

I’m sure that you can notice an improvement in your walking and strength since you started doing the treadmill more. Enjoy your day!

I realized I had banana on the butt of my yoga pants yesterday while I was at Walmart shopping! ARGH. I hate when that happens.

You seem to be enjoying your kindle soooo much!!! Hmm, the smeared banana sounds like something I myself might do. LOL Hugs,M

I read the Wideacre books ages ago. They were great. I read one of Donna Leon’s books and it was excellent. Can’t recall the title tho.

aw, there’s nothin’ wrong with wearing a little dried banana every once in awhile! :o) !! I’m glad you found your little book-light, and glad you’re walking on the treadmill every day too. Good for you! Characters are my favorite part of books. Sometimes I think the plot gets in the way of the characters! hugs, Weesprite

Yay for being able to up it to 20 minutes! If you do that twice a day that’s 10 more minutes daily. Happy to hear you’re walking better already 🙂 *HUGS*

I will have to check out those books. I was just thinking as I read this…. I need to go see if I can download samples of those books. It’s one of the things I love most about the Kindle. I can request the sample while I’m thinking about it, then the sample is sitting there as a reminder, just waiting for whenever I feel like reading it.
