The Ninth Entry

I am doing pretty well with the walking on the treadmill. Most days I have tried for 15 minutes of walking twice a day but I have usually only done one. But today, I did manage to get a second 15 minutes after lunch. I usually do the first two minutes at 1.5 mph and the rest at 2 mph. Around the middle of the walk, I have been moving the incline up a bit for as long as I can which is usually 2 to 3 minutes and then dropping it all down back to 1.5 mph in the last minute. I know it doesn’t sound much but for someone who walkes with a stick, 2 mph is quite difficult. Anway, I am pleased with myself.

Today  I  read Frenchman’s Creek by Daphne du Maurier. It was an easy read and I enjoyed it to a certain point. If I was 15 again, I would have LOVED it but I have outgrown that kind of a love story. Actually, any kind of a love story except perhaps the one between Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara! There is just something about Gone with the Wind that makes it eminently rereadable.

I used to read romances as a teenager, but now I just can’t handle them. The heroines are so wimpy!

I love the “Outlander” series for Romance…and action…and mystery…and history…and smut…and – well, it’s got a bit of everything! 🙂

I’ve never read Gone with the Wind. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen the whole movie all the way through. I must be living on another planet.

Scarlet and Rhett are so complex…I love her character, she is such a shrewd b*tch! No other word to describe her. Such a good book…I am thiiiiiiiis close to finishing Les Miserables…and then I need a new epic! Yay on walking! Glad the treadmill is helping 🙂

I LOVE Gone With the Wind. Glad that you’re doing so well with the treadmill. I think 2mph is great, especially since you do walk with a cane and have had hip surgery. Hugs,M

For the most part, I don’t care for love stories, but sometimes I can if the main character is entertaining enough to draw me in. :o) !! As for walking (treadmill or otherwise), I think it is GREAT to do it, no matter what speed you do it at! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Have you tried walking backwards on the treadmill yet? Just a thought, and maybe you should ask the PT about it first. Or sideways. I have seen all those used in training. Be well and of course have fun….dan

If the characters are interesting, then I can put up with a romance. But I tend be much more fond of historical novels.

I love Daphne Du Maurier novels.

I read Frenchman’s Creek when I was in my early 20s I believe. I agree – certain books are to be read at certain ages. I agree with the second noter – the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon – now that’s a fun read – at least 8 books in the series!
