This & That

I am in hope that we might have hot water today! And that is all I am going to say until it happens.

If I am able to get out to town today, I am going to look at treadmills. I want one that will fold up and that will arrive fully put together. I have always relied on Fred tp put things together for me but when we were talking about this a day or so ago, he said he had reached a point in his life where he didn’t want to do this any more. I can see his point of view since I HATE to do things like this so, added to my requirements for this treadmill is no putting together!

Since I went to to see Dr. H., the orthopedic doctor, I have been making an effort to walk more and I have been doing my exercises. So, last night as I lay on the bed, I turned onto my right side and made an effort to lift my left leg and I succeeded! I was able to lift it quite high and bring it back slowly {thus demonstrating control of the muscle} back down again six times. Doesn’t sound like much, does it but long-time readers may remember how taken aback and depressed I was by not being able to do something as "easy " as this.

Things that make me happy:

  • this morning I am hungry and looking forward to breakfast, {I ate so much over the weekend that my digestive system was all messed up and on Monday I didn’t eat breakfast at all which is very unlike me.}
  • In a few minutes I am going to heat water in the kettle and hand-wash dishes. I like doing this although I usually use the dishwasher because it does a much better job than I do.
  • Last night I discovered that my screen saver has a mosaic effect. First I see a picture then it seems that the "camera" pulls back and tiny little thumbnails of all my pictures are shown until it builds into a mosaic of another picture! I don’t think I am explaining it very well but it is a cool effect and amuses me.
  • This cool Vermont fall. One of us has to be here all day for the hot water tank delivery people but as soon as Fred gets up, I am going for a walk.

Until later…

I’ll put it together for you! I love doing stuff like that! 😉

Good for you on the leg lifts. When I was a kid we heated all our hot water on top of our old-fashioned wood-burning stove. I much prefer having a modern hot water tank.

ryn: I’m so glad he made it safely too. I was quite worried about him doing all that driving in one day on the bike, especially since he’s had a couple problems with it. I truly hope that they get the hot water fixed ASAP!!

That’s great on the leg lifts!!!! Ooooh, I want to experience a Northeast wfall again! I miss that so much! Hope you have a geat one! Hugs,M

This is the first time in years that we are having lovely fall colors in NYC – often lately the trees stay green until December then brown and the leaves drop off. I cannot have heavy exercise equipment in an apartment – I have to use the great outdooors.

I had that kind of screensaver on my computer once also. It is pretty neat! I hate using a dishwasher, oddly enough. When we moved into this house, Joe wanted to install one and I said I did not want one. I always hated loading and unloading them! It just seemed like sheer torture somehow! hugs, Weesprite

I also can understand why Fred doesn’t want to put things together anymore. I think he’s being overly optimistic if he thinks he can avoid it – but I can understand why. 😉

I haven’t bee reading for a while – you sound so much happier and more positive. Well done for persevering with the exercise. I find it funny that reading you always encourages me to persevere myself, or to learn new things. YOu must have been an inspiring teacher I think.

I remember the discouragement you felt at the lack of being able to do this after the operation. And now remind yourself how far you have come! Really, this is terrific!!! That means all those big and especially the little muscles have gotten back to work just for you. I am tremendously proud of you. You are a favorite teacher of mine. be well and have fun…dan
