Early Morning Thoughts

I am finding television so not worth watching these days. I  watch reruns of "Star Trek: Any Flavor", which is pretty silly because I actually have them all {except the originals} on DVD! I have been catching a bit of "House" here and there but although I like Hugh Laurie and have liked the episodes I more-or-less watch, I am not hooked. I do like "Project Runway" a lot, though. Oh, and "Top Chef" when it comes back.

This morning I was woken at 5 am by gusts of wind blowing against the side of the house where the bedroom is. I remember that Fred said he had taken the deck umbrella down last night because the forecast said wind but *I* didn’t remember to take down the small pots on the the edge of the rails. Oh well, if they have been blown over I will just pick them up. The other day one of the boxes got blown over, much to my surprise. I have always assumed they were safe because of the weight of the soil.

I checked and retightened my gas cap but I still have the "check engine" light on. And much to my surprise, I got email from the dealership service department reminding me of my appointment tomorrow. Also tomorrow evening is the book club meeting. The book is Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell. I actually had it on my Kindle because I had caught a bit of the Masterpiece version of it on TV a while ago. When I see something that I like on television which is from a book, I almost always get the book.

While I am writing this, I am also feeding CDs into my computer. I am amazed I have got so many Leonard Cohen CDs. And also a bunch of Cohen songs sung in tribute by other people. {However, I think my biggest genre is classical music.} It is pretty interesting to compare songs from when he was much younger with songs of his more mature age. He actually can’t sing at all and as he got older he started to almost "talk" the songs which is much better. What he is, however is a great great songwriter. I was surprised and amused one year when I was in England to read in the paper an interview with Prince Philip going on and on about why he liked the songs of Leonard Cohen so much. And, yes, I DO know that LC is Canadian! {People keep telling me this…}

Well, it is a little after 7 am. I have been to the bathroom followed by eating a banana.  And now I am thinking I may go back to bed again for a while…

I recently “found” The Practice. I loved it, then it was taken away from daily programming (early in the morning). It’s on early in the weekend mornings. It’s a David Kelly show so the situations are VERY odd and intriguing.

I think you jinxed my car. Ever since you wrote the bit about your “Check Engine” light, my “Maint Reqd” light is on and won’t go off! I don’t have time to take it in!

We like to watch “Star Trek: Any Flavor,” too, but lately it never seems to be on during the hours we watch tv….in ANY of its flavors! I hope you have a lovely day! hugs, Weesprite

Wow, you’re writing bright and early this morning. Saw you on the front page and thought just that! LOL I LOVE House and can’t wait until the new season begins! Hope there’s nothing much wrong with your little Kia. Our check engine light has been on for about a year now. 😛 Hugs, M

Oh that light would drive me mad! I hope you have a great day today! (((Hugs)))

Hope it’s nothing serious with your car. I enjoy House MD and Hugh Laurie but I still enjoyed him most in Blackadder.

The new House M.D. season starts tomorrow! I hope I don’t forget to watch it. I will have to look Leonard Cohen up in youtube. (again, if I remember) You’ve mentioned him many times and yet I have no idea what songs he has written. I’ve probably heard some, but not realized that he wrote them.

I liked the Practice for awhile and watched it faithfully…until it just got too wacky and the lawyers kept needing lawyers more then the clients.

I can’t believe you are and functioning at 5am! You’re right, TV is a waste as of late. I’m hoping for something good in the new fall line up!

My “Check Engine” light comes on in damp weather. When it dries up again, it goes back off. Hi! I’m back!

It is so nice to be retired and do what you want, when you want, how you want! Enjoy the day…however you enjoy it.
