Sunday Stuff

In the last few days I have been looking for interesting and useful {and preferably free } software for my Mac.What I really needed was a nice little calendar into which I could put appointments. Yes, there was ICal which came with the computer but that is obviously designed for the life of a businesswoman not someone who just wants to be reminded about doctor’s appointments and when the monthly book club meet. And the Google calendar has the same problem of having too many bells and whistles.

Well, I eventually found a cute little calendar which worked perfectly. It sat on the desktop and days when I had entered something were circled. If I put the cursor over the circle, a tiny little note popped up.  I was happy. Then I found the fly in the ointment. When I opened the software again this morning, instead of the calendar, a Bible verse popped up. I had to click on the verse to get my calendar. This really annoyed me. If there had been an option in the preference to opt in or out of that, well, ok. But there wasn’t. It wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the program or on the website. It was just there. As far as I am concerned, this is shoving religion down my throat.

And so I exercised my freedom of choice, the option the program didn’t give me, and dumped it. In its place, I downloaded Sunbird, which is the Mozilla calendar program. It may also be on the edge of being too complex for what I need but I will give it a trial for a day of two…

Today I walked up to the drug store and got Fred’s prescription refills. I seem to be able to manage one short walk a day.

This afternoon it was cool enough to have to wear a long-sleeved shirt when I was sitting outside reading.

Until later…

I could use a decent program that reminds me of things. I really hate Outlook. I don’t know why; I just do. Maybe, as you say, too many bells and whistles. Maybe I’ll check and see if they make Sunbird for the PC.

I am in Florida….I will not be wearing long sleeves until (hopefully) Christmas. At Thanksgiving we usually have the A/C on and are still wearing t-shirts! This past Thanksgiving, my daughter was actually dangling her feet in the pool. I would love to have an actual fall and winter season.

It is so tough to find a planner for your computer that works. I find that they are all too complicated. Drives you crazy!

I used to have this awesome little calendar thing for my computer, but I don’t remember what it was. I’m not sure if it even was Mac-friendly. But now I just use the calendar on my cell phone. It works wonders for me.

I am using SUNBIRD and really enjoy it. I find it very easy to use. Any suggestions for computer programs for my Mac?
