Doctor Says…
So,off I went to see the doctor today. Bottom line is that best guess is that it is the beginning of GERD {Gastroesophageal reflux disease}. I have a generic stomach acid reducer to take for a couple of weeks. I also have some ativan to help me get over the anxiety that I am feeling when I think I may have cancer again. I confidently expect ativan to work as well as it did when I was taking it a couple of years ago for exactly the same reason. I have the paperwork in my car to go for a chest xray tomorrow. I feel much better now that something is being done. If the medication for acid reflux doesn’t get rid of these symptoms, then something else will be suggested when I go back in a couple of weeks. I really feel that this will settle both the discomfort after eating AND the panic I am having.
So, I am feeling much better…

As a GERD patient myself, I can tell you that one Nexium a day has had me problem-free for years.

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. At least when you know what it is you can deal with it in the best way. Hope the meds work. Take care. 😉

I’m quite glad to hear that they think it’s something so innocuous.

I am glad to read that it is something that you can deal with.

Glad to read that you will be ok. My friend who also has acid reflux ate early at night and it didn’t bother her as much as if she ate later.

I started to say “What good news” but that sounds silly. How about “glad it’s something treatable?” 🙂

Probably the fear and the acid reflux feed off one another as well. I’m happy that it isn’t anything more serious and that you have the meds to take care of them.

I had that 7 or 8 years ago. It lasted for a couple of years and then went away again. I considered myself very lucky. Can’t remember what I was taking for it.

Knowing is always better than the worry of what might be wrong isn’t it? I hope it sorts things out – you’ve a very positive outlook on life and always face your problems head on which must be a help to your body in coping with whatever comes its way.
