Playing with the Pad

So, my main project today was to install the Wacom Bamboo pad and the software that came with it. The installation CD has a tutorial on it given by a man with a nice English accent.  Then I installed the software that came with it. There were three pieces but the one I was most interested in was the Corel Painter Essentials. I noticed that the the serial numbers were located on the DVD sleeve but it took a lot of frustration on my part before I noticed that the serial numbers were for two different versions  {Windows and Mac} and I was putting the wrong one in! This one also came with a link to some nifty tutorials vocalized by a woman with a Canadian accent! I want to spend some time to learn how to use this software well. When I had Paint Shop Pro, I did hours of tutorials which I downloaded and worked through all by myself. If that program was available for Mac I would happily buy it—well, if I could get an earlier version when it belonged to Jasc. Anyway, the other two programs bundles with this pad are Adobe Photoshop Elements and Nik Color Efex Pro. I have used Photoshop Elements before but I know nothing about the third one.

I am still trying to get Fred’s Windows XP to see his card reader. I really thought I had it this morning. I opened up the folder where I had downloaded the driver and found there was one thing called Install Hardware. So, I did what it said, and went happily looking for "removeable drive E" which, of course, wasn’t there. After the ease of configuring a Mac, I find Windows very annoying. But I will press on. I was unable to get his computer to speak to the old HP printer but eventually I managed to get his XP talking to the new Canon printer…

It occurred to me this morning that I have heard nothing from the people round the corner who have my old Win 98 machine and are supposed to be putting my pictures on a hard drive. Ok, I will go round there tomorrow–a reason for a walk. I must also get to the bank before Sunday. I have a massage then and I agreed to pay Beth cash for the six extra I am buying to get me to the end of the year.

I am off to play some more with my new Wacom pad…

I really admire the way you keep plugging at things until you have them figured out. (((Hugs)))

🙂 Good luck with all of the Techie stuff!

I used a MAC today to check email for the company and it took me 10X longer than it would to check it from my PC at home. LOL!

There tutorials of all kinds of things on YouTube. I found this out from a friend who told me about the ones for Photoshop Elements. Can’t wait to hear about your learning adventures.

Wow…you sure know a lot about computers. People think I do, just cuz I use one a lot….but nope; using one is ALMOST all I know how to do with one! Maybe I could learn some more things, by watching tutorials though! I never even thought of that! So thanks for mentioning them! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

So high-tech! There are days when I want to be an absolute Luddite and throw out every electronic gadget I see.
