The New Printer
Today my new printer arrived. And since I had done nothing about moving stuff, I had to that first. So, I moved the old printer out, cleaned off the homework desk, moved out the clothes hanger thingy decorated with my winter scarves and hats , moved the homework desk into that space, and slid the computer desk down enough to leave a space big enough to put the table and the new printer, a Canon PIXMA AP470.
Actually, it is a printer, a scanner and a fax machine all in one. I have absolutely NO reason to use a fax but I DO like the idea of a scanner. So, I got the machine plugged into the power strip on the floor and looked at the instructions for the next step. It said, "A USB cable is necessary to connect the machine with your computer." What? There was only a power cord in the box… Hmmm. So, I canniblized the old printer for the USB cable. I intend to give this older printer away and at that price whoever gets it shouldn’t complain about having to buy a USB cable, right?
Anyway, I am leaving the rest of it to do tomorrow morning when I may have a little intelligence and energy ! The ink cartridges need to be inserted and I will have to figure out how to insert the paper properly AND how to scan.

I’m sure it won’t be too hard. My printer is a bluetooth one, so I just had to connect the cord once, let my computer recognize it and now it’s wireless! I love it! Have fun with the scanner! I have scanned a lot of my old family pictures and saved them ta a CD or DVD in case something happens to the original.

My new printer didn’t come with a USB cable, either, AND I had to buy a special one because the “standard” ones aren’t the same. GRRR! BUT I do like the all-in-one feature because you can also use it as a copy machine, and that has actually already come in handy! Woot!

Looking forward to some hi-res photos soon. I reserve the right to consult my personal tech on how to post photos online…something I have yet to master.

It is unbelievable how much these things have come down in price and improved in reliability. You will love having a scanner. I’m in constant amazement over how the computer has changed my life for the better….. Hope the installation goes easy for you…

I need to get a new printer. My old one is a Canon – I like the brand, but gunked up from not being used for a while. I am thinking about the wireless type.

I love our ‘new’ printer. New things are always a pain when the old things are still around.

Nice! I have so loved my scanner. When I had a fax machine I loved it too: I’d never thought I’d need one either.
