Trash? No Trash!

Ok, you have heard me complain about our landlord and the lack of trash removal before, I know. Today when I came home there were several cans and a lot of bags piled up at the edge of the end of the drive. I thought he was planning to take them all to the dump this evening. Now, I have a box full of recycleable paper and Fred has a couple of bags of the same that we haven’t been putting out because all the trash bins were full. The box and the paper bags would get wet and the wet paper would blow all over the yard. So, when I heard the landlord upstairs in his apartment  about three-ish, I dashed out and told him if he was going to the dump, we had more for him to take.

He came into the house to get it and told us that from now on, the trash would be picked up by a professional trash remover every Monday morningThere will be two "official" wheelie bins. The red one will be for nonrecycleables and the blue one will be for recycleables. This is fantastic news! He sometimes let those bags pile up for weeks. It not only looked unpleasant out there, but it also smelled at times. I know our neighbor who has a little boy stopped taking him on the grass out there when he was still a baby because there were wasps attracted to the bags…

Well, it has only taken him a year or so to do what he said he would do…

At least it got done. That’s progress… I wish we had a wheelie bin for recycles, it would make life so much easier around here.

I’m so glad he finally wised up! It wouldn’t be very pleasant having trash pile up like that on a regular basis! hugs, Weesprite

Is it done yet?

That’s good news! We have three bins, blue for papers and platic bottles, brown for garden refuse, and grey for everything else. The blue and grey are emptied each alternate week, and the brown once a month, but not at all in Winter!

I wasn’t sure if there was garbage removal yesterday but luckily a friend told me there was. They took the garbage but NOT the recycling so i had to bring it back in. YUK!

Our local council picks up our trash weekly here – does that not happen over there? Is everyone responsible for their own rubbish? We have an ordinary wheelie bin pickup for basic rubbish, a compost wheelie bin pickup and a recycle box for cans, bottles etc. as well as a bag for paper & cardboard. All on different days.
