No Sunshine Today

Today I got the bathroom and the kitchen cleaned up including floors. I have been feeling pleased with myself when I manage to get one room done and today I did two.  Now, admittedly they are the two smallest rooms in the apartment and back when I had energy, I did them both in one day, but it has been quite a while since I managed to do more than one at a time! All welcome signs that I am getting better…

I have got all the flower boxes planted with impatiens or marigolds and they are beginning to look really nice. Which reminds me I saw a squirrel on one flower box this morning nuzzling the flowers! I leaped out and yelled at him and he took off in a big hurry, This year I bought cushions for the all outside chairs and a nice umbrella for the deck. Oh, and a box to store said cushions and other stuff when it rains. I have had a little time out there most days but not today. Actually, although it didn’t rain, all day it looked and felt as if it was going to so I didn’t go out at all except to briefly check on the weather. {Fred looks at the weather channel on TV or on his computer; I stick my nose out in the morning after I get up!} Anyway, no reading out in the sunshine today because we haven’t seen the sun all day!

What I am reading:

  • I am almost through with The Emancipator’s Wife by Barbara Hambly. This is a fictionalized life of Mary Todd Lincoln.
  • I have just begun Slow River by Nicola Griffith. She has a web site which is where I learned she has MS.
  • Another book I am also reading is Elizabeth and Mary: Cousins, Rivals, Queens by Jane Dunn. Although I know quite a lot about both of these queens, I am enjoying this books which compares and contrasts episodes in the lives of Queen Elizaberh I and Mary, Queen of Scots.

There is a Kindle forum on Amazon and I am interested to see how many contributers who have a Kindle say they are reading much more. I am also one of these people because now reading is SO convenient. My Kindle fits perfectly into one of the pockets of my purse and anywhere I go it is easy to pull oit my "books" and read. It doesn’t matter how many books I have on the go– Kindle always remembers which page I am on.

That would be a handy thing to have. I dowloaded an audiobook from the library (I wonder how long it will take them to get kindle books?) and I hated it because it was all in one big file and it wouldn’t bookmark where I left off. It would nice to have the bookmark feature.

I want to get a deck on the back of our house, so I can read in the sun when I want to. Poor little squirrel…LOL! I don’t blame you though. You work hard to put all of them out, you don’t need little critters tearing them up! Have a wonderful weekend! (((Hugs)))

waaay too much sunshine here. Temps will be in the 90s tomorrow!

We are really getting into summer mode here. Daily temps in the 90’s and no rain in sight. Looks to be another “year of the drought’. Watered my shrubs this am in front of the house. The back yard is tomorrows project!

I checked out that kindle thing on Amazon. I just couldn’t justify the expense though. Unfortunately that means I have about 15 boxes of books to move in the next couple weeks. RYN: I’m not good at being patient and waiting for things to heal. I didn’t even want to go to the doctor. David made me. Hugs, John

I think that any cleaning done is great. The Kindle sounds really neat. I might get one when I have more money and time. I love to read.

RYN: I think I could list off at least 50 things that I think are positive about you with no problem. Of course you are one of the faves that I hold in the highest esteem which probably makes it easier. I guess too when it comes to myself that I don’t have any trouble distinguishing between positive traits and things that could really use improvement. I might have to do a list of those after Ifinish the 7 days of positive just to keep myself grounded. 😀

*sets off firework for you as being first person I’ve noted since coming back!* I’d never heard of the Kindle – had a look at Amazon to see what it was all about – is it basically an electronic device for reading which can store loads of books and looks like the page of a book? That’s what I was picking up anyway. Sounds wonderful.
