Progress on the Flower boxes

Well, today in my wildly exciting life I am going to buy a big pot, and a small tomato plant! The people at the garden shop never called me about the topsy-turvy bag that I wanted to to grow tomatoes in so I am proceeding with plan B, a pot. Our landlord grew tomatoes very successfully in a pot last year. However, he and his girlfriend were out yesterday spading up a small plot which he says is for "salad greens."  It will be interesting to see what he puts in there.

I have pretty well finished with the flowers on our deck. I have my usual impatiens in the four boxes and I put marigolds in the hanging basket. I really don’t know why because they are not hanging basket material really. They don’t hang over the sides, but I was attracted to them by the yellow and orange colors. I have tried other things besides impatiens in the boxes but impatiens seem to do best. One of the balcony boxes got knocked down a few days ago and I just picked up the plants and reset them in the box. They seem to be doing ok, though. I will take pictures when the are a little more grown. Right now they are just peeping over the edge of the boxes.

Well, time to brush teeth and head out. I actually have a list of bits and pieces I was hoping to get today. It has, however, occurred to me that there will probably be millions of people picking up their bits and pieces since today is a holday. Hmmm, well, if there are huge crowds, I will just come home and try again tomorrow. You can do that sort or thing when you are retired!

oh, and another thing you can do when you are retired is spend most of a day sitting outside  under the shade of an umbrells reading  from a Kindle, which is what I did yesterday!

Sitting under a shade with a Kindle (or a book!) sounds like the most enjoyable, relaxing things of all to me!

It would be heaven to sit outside and read. Can’t do that right now, though. It’s been raining all week. Dang.

YOu can get patio tomatoes to grow in your pot. They taste good and are just for that type of thing. HUgs,M

You know, I never thought about how my body’s balance might be affecting me, until your note about your purse slipping off your shoulder. I have carried my purse on my left shoulder most of my life. Sometimes I try carrying it on my right shoulder just to shift the weight, and it never rests there comfortable, and wants to slip off. I always assumed that’s because, over the years, it’s created itsown nice little dent in my left shoulder. And maybe that IS what’s happened but now you’ve got me considering that perhaps it is more an issue of my balance (or lack thereof).

We stopped at Target this morning to get a new filter for the vacuum and while I was there, I bought seed packets…Rosemary, Basil, Cilantro, and Oregano… I’m going to have my own little herb garden on the patio ledge!!!!! Love to you! ~M

I like marigolds for their bright cheery color, too, so I’d be likely to plant them in a basket. :o) !! I hope you have a lovely day! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Thanks for the note. I have a cousin that taught in the not so great schools of Mississippi for a few years. I have a story to tell about that. If you are interested, let me know and I’ll post an entry about it. Thanks again.
