Stuff

Apparently there were three of us absent from Italian on Thursday since we all got email from la professoressa with the classwork and homework!

I am kind of thinking of giving up on the ceramics class. Having missed two classes, there is NO way I will ever get caught up, and to tell the truth, I am not enjoying it all that much. It seems to be requiring  more physicality than I am able to give it. At the moment, I can not stand for any length of time and wedging the clay really needs to be done standing so that you can put body weight into it.

Actually, I am having quite a lot of difficuly coming to terms with the fact that I can’t do things that I  once took for granted. I walked up to the drug store yesterday and it physically knocked me out to the extent that as I got home into the kitchen I had to call for help from Fred to put away the milk I had brought. I think this was because I had my stick in one hand and the bag in the other AND was walking on snow and slush. I was physically unbalanced and by the time I got home was walking hunched over with my butt sticking out for balance which not only looked awful but gave me a horrible backache. What I need to do next time is to take my backpack which will not only help me to be more balanced but also FORCES me to walk upright with my back straight! I have not definitely decided on not going to ceramics any more but the thought is there…

Tonight we are to have more snow and also over the weekend. I am NOT happy about this.

i’m with you on not being happy about more snow. we’re expecting between 5 and 10 inches by noon tomorrow. but, then it’s supposed to warm up next week. i’m sick to death of snow and cold and ice. i want spring!! take care,

I feel frustrated with my body now. I think because when your mind is racing, it is annoying when your body doesn’t keep up. I know what you mean about clay. I did a couple of classes. Plus, I teach it to my students. I had to carry a bag to my classroom and I wanted to die. It is SUPER heavy. Cutting it and making it is tons of work. Even when you use a wheel!

More snow, oh no. Boy you guys have really gotten more than your fair share.

I am sorry that you are finding such difficulty in doing things now but I think that it is impressive that you still get in walks even in those weather conditions. I am sure that you will have more improvements over time. And definitely if you aren’t enjoying the class, drop it. There are plenty of other things that you might enjoy more that you can spend your time on.

At 73 you’re allowed to do whatever you feel like doing…especially dropping a class if you dislike it 😉

Oh, how I understand how you feel about the snow! We’re in the same boat here, and today, watching the weather for the weekend, I actually broke down and cried. I’m so sorry to hear about the ceramics class, I was hoping that it would turn out to be something new and exciting for you, but of course your physical health and wellbeing must come first. And yeah, I do understand about the back/hip situation, but I’m very glad to hear that you’re taking positive steps. You are such an inspiration you know.

We’ve had warm weather for a couple of days, and I can’t tell you the difference in everyone’s attitudes. Hopefully, the wind will blow you some good weather and sunshine. I’m sure it will help you have a “sunnier” (get it? I kill myself sometimes) attitude.

I wouldn’t enjoy ceramics either, from what you’ve said about it. I’d much rather buy my pots readi-made! As for walking in the snow and slush…. I can see where that would be VERY tiring by this time of year! I’m pretty sure that was the main reason you were so exhausted after your trip to the store! Sometimes all this stuff DOES just add up to leave a person feeling quite frustrated and discouraged though. This has been kinduv a frustrating winter for you…. but I think it was Shelley who said “if winter comes, can spring be far behind?” Surely it’s coming soon! :o) hugs, Weesprite
