No Snow Today!

Well, it has, finally, stopped snowing. I looked out this morning and our landlord has done a really good job of cleaning it out. There is ice on our porch but he did put salt on it. {I know this because he left the empty bag on the porch! } He has even cleared a path out to the trash cans and taken out the bag of trash I dumped on the porch! Well, I wasn’t going to walk out to the cans in snow up to my knees, but I did take out the bag I had filled this morning…

I went out three times to clean the snow off the cars yesterday and I am so glad I did because there is just a dusting on them now. As soon as the frozen-food delivery man arrives, I will go out and clean the snow off the cars. Then, probably early afternoon, we will go grocery shopping together. We are out of pretty well everything. In fact, this morning we were out of sugar for Fred’s coffee but, luckily there was a little brown sugar left and, if push came to shove, we also have honey. {I don’t take sugar in my tea or coffee. Years ago, I gave it up for Lent and discovered I actually liked it better that way!}

The refrigerator is almost empty as is the freezer section of it. We have a really BIG order for Art, the frozen-food man when he comes this morning. Fred orders online and then sends me a copy by email since I am the one who is up at that time and thus the one who writes the check.

Oh, and I have decided I am not going to go in to the Italian class this afternoon. I will write a note to la professoressa and work on the homework assignment and the classwork before next Tuesday. We need to buy a lot of stuff at the grocery store and it will need a two-person attack! Normally, Fred goes to buy  a bit at a time because he actually enjoys buying groceries!  {I hate it so that works out well!} He uses his wheeled walker which is good because he can sit down when his legs bother him. But although he very ingeniously hangs bags all over the walker, he is limited as how much he can get. This isn’t usually a problem since he can go a couple of times a week. But then there are times like today when we HAVE to have a lot of stuff and then we both go.

Ok, short break here to pay the frozen-food man. Fred is putting it all away and then I will go out and clean snow off the car and move mine into the street so that Fred can get his out..

More later..

Have a good day and keep warm and safe during the trip to and from the store.

Fred reminds me of my Dad in many ways; Dad never spent a dime (hardly) on anything else, but he really enjoyed shopping for groceries. He was a good cook like Fred, too! I’m so glad you two get to go to the store today! It is worrisome, when the cupboards are getting bare! One advantage (for us) to living out in the countryside is that there’s always someone nearby with a big tractor or something, who can help people get to the store over bad roads. ryn: I would have liked your sister! She said many wise things! of course, I like HER sister also. :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Yay for a pause in the snow!!!

It FINALLY stopped snowing here, too. Looks like clear skies for a few days. Maybe now we’ll get the thaw. Glad it stopped long enough for you to stock the larder.

Oooooooooo, fudgicle’s?

Messy outside, but nothing falling from the skies, thankfully. Just cold and icy. The chocolate arrived…

*huggs* Happy Valentines day!

So glad you can order frozen food items and have them delivered. Be careful out there and watch your step in the snow and ice.

So glad that the snow has quit for a while and you are able to get out to the gocery store. I hate it when the cupboards are bare!! Be careful!! Oh, and I’ll be watching for the mail! Hugs, M

RYN: yeah, I’m in the very northern part of Bama, so I’ve seen a few bad ice storms in my life, but definitely not every winter! lol. 🙂

Patrisha, Oh my GOSH! How in the world can we ever thank you for your kindness? Imagine my surprise when I got todays mail. Your generosity means more to us than you will ever realize. We were in such a bind right now, even more so than usual. ( if that’s possible! ) I had actually called my sister last night and asked if we could borrow 300 from them so that we could kind of get things settled.

Thanks to your kind spirit I was able to call her back today and tell her not to worry. She actually hadn’t really had time to discuss it with her husband as Julia had been sick again. I knew from our conversation last night though that it was not a good time to be asking them.Although I didn’t squander much of it away I did buy a new light for the LR ceiling(we’ve needed one for 2 yrs. now),

a movie, ( that was DEFINATELY a squander 🙂 ), and some freesia bulbs. When the flowers come up each year I will remember the wonderful kindness you showed us. We also paid some bills that I was panicking about and bought some groceries to see us through to the first of the month. AND, I wisely put some up for gas money etc, to see us through till them also. Oh yeah, I sort of ” squandered” some

on material also but I really think of that as an ” investment ” as these will be things that go in Grammy Js shop when she gets it up and running. Tee hee, I just realized that I pretty much gave you a run down on what we did with all the money. 😛 Well, since I did that I should also say that we enjoyed a wonderful early supper out too! It was SOOOO nice not to cook!! Once again we thank you

on material but as this will be used to make crafts to sell in Grammy Js shop it was actually an ” investment.” Again, I don’t know how to tell you just how much this means to us and how truly needed it was. Elton and I both thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Hopefully when you make your trip to Ky. in the spring we will be able to meet IRL and we can thank you in person. Huge hugs, M

I almost forgot, sorry I wrote a book! 😛 Just couldn’t say it all in a short note!! LOL Hugs, M

ryn: We definitely can’t afford the Dyson 🙂 There’s another one that is marketed especially for pet hair and whatnot that is like $500 cheaper. I wish we could afford the dyson though, but it’s a $600 vacuum.

I know that when we don’t have the children, I will let the cupboards get bare in the winter. You skip lots of things when it is super cold out.

you seem so much younger !! : )
