Snow, School, and ST:DS9

We had about 6 inches of snow yesterday and last night and it is still snowing. I am supposed to go into the community college this afternoon for Italian. I was really hoping the school would be closed, but, alas… The thing is that the college is is Burlington and snow gets cleaned up pretty quickly there. On the other hand, although the snow plows will eventually get our road cleared, it has not happened as yet. Anyway, I sent email to professoressa Jeanna asking what she will cover in class and for the homework since I do NOT feel like driving in the snow. I am hoping that the roads will be cleared by Friday so I can drive in and get my ceramics homework, the Valentine box, done…

Fred needs a couple of prescription refills so a bit later on, I will put on my new coat and walk to the drug store. I like walking in the snow. It is not packed down ice and it squeaks underfoot which amuses me.

And the rest of the day I will be watching a Star Trek; Deep Space Nine marathon because that was what arrived from Amazon yesterday.. I really didn’t watch much of this when it was on TV and somehow, couldn’t get interested in it. I am enjoying it a lot now.

I remember how much my dad and sister loved the Star Trek tv shows and I never could get into them either. Sounds like you have lots of lovely snow — but no fun to try to navigate in, glad you’re not going to drive in it today.

I like watching Star Trek!! I definitely haven’t seen all of it, but if it’s on I’m entertained. *hugs* Have fun walking in the snow!!

Squeaky snow gives me the shivers, like when you rub pieces of styrofoam together.

Have fun walking in the lovely snow! I want some, but it is nearly 60 again today. (We might get some on Sunday though, the forecast says!) I didn’t like Deep Space Nine when it first came out, but I do find it interesting now, also. hugs, Weesprite

11 inches of snow here plus funny drifts in the driveway as the wind came from the ESE a rather strange direction here. The drive is almost a 1/4 mile long and I won’t be shoveling it today. Or tomorrow so I am home til Mon. I never watched DSN but most of the other Star Treks. I am a big fan. Enjoy the walks you must be getting real strong. Be sure to wiggle the hips and have fun…dan

I enjoyed some of DS9, but I really lost interest towards the end of the series. The mirror universe bits were certainly interesting though.

HEY! We’re on the next-to-last season of DS9, too! We’re loving it! Neither of us particularly enjoyed it when it was on TV, but like watching two or three episodes at a shot when they come from Netflix. There have been some really fun episodes the last season-and-a-half. YAY!

Thanks so much for your note. I remember reading back when you were going through your pain. What I’m learning from this experience is that I never had enough sympathy, or empathy, for those who were going through chronic pain. I guess if you haven’t experienced it, you can’t imagine it enough to really offer more than token sympathy. Now I’m feeling badly about everyone I ever knew who endured long term pain and I didn’t give them the degree of sympathy they deserved! I hope I’ll find out what is causing the pain, cure the pain… but never forget what it’s like, and always be supportive of others who are enduring it.

We never get proper snow around here!!

Deep Space Nine turned out to be my favorite of the Star Treks. I liked that it was a bit darker than the others, yet always with that eye of hope.

i loved watching DS9. i don’t blame you for not wanting to drive to burlington in the snow! i don’t drive in the snow either. i love squeaky snow!!! take care,

RYN: Your favorite song is the one I – and other choir friends – sang back on in concert with him in 1983. Arguably one of the best memories I have!!

That’s a lot of snow. We have a storm going through at the moment but the snow blows around. If it drifts in the wrong place, you go no where.

I finally found the quote that makes me think very much about you whenever I read it: “One can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways.” ~Edith Wharton

it is the commercials that ruin it for everyone! I love marathons that you do on your own! *huggs*

I hate driving in the snow too. It makes me nervous.
