Later Today

Today I had to go to physical therapy at 12:30 so I decided I would walk. It was snowing very lightly and I like walking in the snow in my new coat! The physical therapy place is right above the drug store, and as regular readers know, I have often walked to the drug store. Well, that is before the hip surgery, but I have done it once or twice since! So, off I went up hill all the way. I got there in plenty of time and roamed around the drug store looking for a folder to put my school paperwork in. Then I went upstairs to the PT place.

We did lots of painful therapy. Actually, I was in pain before I left because pounding that clay around yesterday made my muscles ache so I did my ten minutes on the bicycle somewhat lethargically. But Candice and Alicia worked me hard after that. We finished with the lying on the side exercise that I had so much trouble with last week. It was even worse this week and Candace had to reset the reformer {which is what the machine is called} to make it a bit easier for me. She said the next time we would start with that exercise before I got so tired. She did have me walk and said it looked a bit better. I am inclined to agree with her. I can go about three steps before the lurching starts, but even the lurching is a bit less than it was.

So, after an hour, I started  walking home and that was when I realized I had eaten nothing since breakfast and I was very shaky. About half way home, I would have called Fred to come and get me if I had taken my cell phone out of my school bag which was on the table at home!  Anyway, I managed to make it home and asked Fred if he would mind fixing me a sandwich. Usually we get out own breakfast and lunches but he rallied around and brought a sandwich to me in the bedroom where I was lying down. I ate it and drank a bottle of water and immediately felt better. I need to remember that i just cannot go over four hours without food. My system behaves badly when food is needed  and none arrives!

Sorry about the pain. Hopefully the therapy will work well and the pain will lessen. I love the thought of food just appearing.

Wow that ceramic class sounds strenuous! Hope you get some much-needed rest.

You might consider putting a pack of peanut butter/crackers or cheese crackers in a fanny pack or your purse when you walk again. It will keep you from possibly passing out from no food. I am diabetic and I try to always have a little something handy for that very reason. I am so bad about leaving my cell phone at home or out in my van. It’s a wonder anyone calls me any more! Take care of yourself! (((Hugs)))

Sorry about the painful road to healing that you’re on, but you’re doing it! I love the Michael Jordan quote.

I always bring cereal in a baggie with me to work, just in case I can’t have lunch in time. It works well on the weekends too, but I leave the baggies in the car, since I don’t carry a purse. RYN: I hope we have two more good things coming! That would be nice. Hugs, John

I need a Fred to make me sandwiches, too…how very nice of him.

When you said you were walking to therapy, my first thought was “I hope you’re not planning to walk home from therapy because you’ll be sore and tired.” Eeep! Glad hubby made you the sandwich and you felt better. =)

Sorry about the PT being so hard on you today as well as being painful. Glad that you were able to make it home after not eating!! Hugs, M

You and I both need to remember to take a snack along when we go walking! I also cannot go that long without food, and a few times I have gotten feeling VERY weak and wobbly when hiking at the state park! Oh where was Fred when I needed him? :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Always hate when there is pain when you have to do something.

I am the exact same way when I don’t eat. I think it’s our blood sugar crashing. Once I eat I feel a lot better. I have even noticed in the morning if I don’t have a granola bar or something small I feel sick and get a headache. It’s hard sometimes also to have something handy. I usually try and carry a granola bar in my jacket or purse to help.
