Starting the Day Late
It has just occurred to me that this time last year, I did the one-photo-a-day thing. And, what is more, I spent a lot of time changing those photos to be artistic. Right now, if I think about doing this, my main thought is I can’t be bothered. And that is a good indication that I have not got up to my usual energy level as yet. However, I AM doing a bit better. The tree is up and with some help from Fred, decorated. {It is minimalist decorating–silver or red balls and a tree with built-in lights!} Thanks to Amazon, I have all the presents I am going to give sent to the recipients. I have to wrap the one for Fred and it will then go under the tree. And there had better be one of more presents with my name on by the time Christmas comes or I shall throw a hissy fit the like of which has never been seen!
This morning I woke at 4:30 and got up at 5:30. I read mail and favorites and took a shower and washed my hair. At 8 am, I was back in bed and slept until the telephone woke us both at 10 am. So, it is going to be a rather odd day today!
I am not walking daily for a few days for two reasons. First, we have snow. A lot of snow. Our landlord has not cleared anything off yet although I suppose he will eventually. I actually have to go out and slog through it today to carry two bags which are propped against the back door out to the trash cans. As I am writing this, I am thinking that I might just put them on the deck until he clears a path out there. The second reason I am not walking is that I have a huge and painful corn on my left little toe. I am treating it but it hurts. I do have some wide boots and those are what I am wearing but even with a corn protector, heavy socks and wide shoes, it still hurts. Oh, the joys of getting older!
Something weird is happening with my computer. This morning I switched it on as I walked to the bathroom as I usually do. It came on, started to boot up and then the monitor went blank and the green light on it went out. This has happened before. I got down on the floor and checked connections and the next time I tried it, it booted up very well. The interesting thing is I was on the floor and I got up before I realized that, although I did a lot of muttering and complaining to myself, there was NO pain. Before the hip surgery, Fred had to help me up from the floor because I was in so much pain.
I haven’t as yet made a decision about going to the library for the book club meeting as yet but I am inclining to not going… it is still snowing on and off.

ah-ha…..now there’s an entry here! :o) !! Gee, your landlord should get busy and shovel the snow! AND Fred (or possibly Santa) had better get busy Christmas shopping! :o) !! I have not set foot out the door yet today except for one trip to the mailbox. The wind is threatening to blow everything away again and I’d much rather just stay indoors! hugs, Weesprite

hope you start feeling better soon. I think that it is normal to be tired after all that you have done this year. Italy, the learning, the walking, the culture and the operation and the amazing recuperation. I’m glad you are giving yourself some time… and I like the changes you have made to your diary. The candles and the red are very refreshing.

Hmm.. so blessings are hidden under the computer desk, and you have to crawl around under there to find them? Wonder what I’ll find under mine? EWW!! Dust!

good to hear you can get up off the floor with no pain and no help!! you’re doing good!! it takes some time to get back your strength and energy. be patient with yourself…. it’ll come back. if it’s snowing, i don’t think i’d go to the book club meeting. i dont’ like driving in snow but especially i don’t like driving in snow after dark!!! take care,
