Getting Stuff Done

We got up this morning to a couple of inches of snow!

Fred needed some prescriptions from the drugstore so I told him I would take my walk in that direction. it is about a block away and on a non-snow day I can be up and back in fifteen minutes. I knew it would take longer today because I had to be really careful of my footing going uphill to the store and even more careful of the ice coming home downhill.

I went in and asked for his medication and, much to my surprise, was told that the rat-poison {warfarin for blood thinning} would cost about $25. Now usually, Fred pays a monthly sum in insurance to the state and all his medications and his insulin are covered by this. I asked the young woman to check the computer again and it was still charging him. So, the pharmacist very kindly called the appropriate state authority and got the problem sorted out. There was, apparently, a change in supplier and all he had to do was to change a number in his computer. However, it took at least 20 minutes to get through to the person with the authority to give him the right number.

When I came into the store, I had noticed that there were signs up telling the customers that the pharmacy was switching to a new system on December 7th and it is possible that it will take a little longer to get prescriptions filled. So, I decided that I had better get my prescriptions refilled while I was there so that took a little more time.

Anyway, by the time I had walked home {cautiously} it had been almost an hour and Fred was getting ready to call the drug store and ask if I had been there! And the moral of this is that I should never leave home without my cell phone. It was charging in the workroom and I had looked at it briefly before I left and decided I wouldn’t need it!

In other news, I haven’t got the tree up yet, but I have got Amazon to send gifts for my older son and his wife and something for Fred {which will be sent to me} Then as soon as I get information from the younger one as to where he wants me to send his gifts {he and K.  are going to Mississippi to visit his father for Christmas} I will get that done.
I Amazon wish lists!

Don’t wait for your "ship to come in" and feel angry and cheated when

it doesn’t. Get going with something small.

I’m glad you got to enjoy a little walk in the snow…. though you had quite a long lay-over at the pharmacy! About cell phones….Carrie gets annoyed at Joe and me because, when we are all on outings together and split up, Joe and I never have our cell phones with us. She always tries calling us to find out where we are! And our cell phone will be in our car, ringing, cuz who would ever want to carry a cell phone….on a walk or something?! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

I have a belt (waistband) clip for my cell and I sometimes forget it’s even there. I even wear it in the house! On the rare occasions when somebody actually calls me, it makes me jump!

Your first quote reminded me of this: “Someday my ship will come in, but with my luck I’ll be at the Airport”… Ah, snow. I’d like to see it from a distance at this point, but that’s about it. Love to you! ~M

I like your new decor! Hurray for getting things done. I need to – but good for you.

*huggs* I would’ve sent the cia after you!

I get so frustrated with some of the pharmacies around here. Hope you got it all straightened out. Hugs, M

I like my new decor too. I’m going to have to start using my own insurance now–I have no idea what my deductable is.

Be careful walking on that snow and ice. It’s one thing I don’t miss.

My ship is still hing up on a sandbar. 🙂 – – – –

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to have the cell phone in case you slipped in that ice/snow, too! I’ve come to rely on my cell phone too much probably, but it makes me feel more secure knowing I have it with me.

I honestly can’t wait to get some snow here. I love it. As long as I don’t have to travel a long distance in it. I’m glad you got the prescription mess straightened out. Tell Fred that I miss reading him. You must be keeping him busy! (((Hugs)))

Amazon is a wonderful thing, it truly is. Have you seen those odd little gripper things that you can slip over your regular shoes for extra traction? They’re close to ice cleats, but not quite as extensive.
