Later in the Day

Well, as usual, the physical therapists worked me very hard this morning. One thing I have been trying to do since PT started is to walk without a cane and without locking my hip or my knee. This morning at PT, I walked five complete and straight  steps down the hall with Leslie {holding my cane} walking beside me. It was slow, and done with constant attention to my knee {"unlock it") and my hip {" unlock it"} and my left foot {"heel to toe"}. It astounds me that something I used to do without thought now requires such careful attention!

I picked up the medication from the drug store and, when I got home. called the doctor to request that the prescription be rewritten for two months so that I will have enough meds while I am in Italy. I had all of that organized when I was taking 20 mg but it all has to be done over for 50 mg!

After that, I went shopping and bought some comfortable pants and a light sweater to travel in. I was able to walk pushing a shopping cart although I have to admit there was a fair amount of lurching around!  I panicked a bit when I got to the paying part and I realized I could not find my personal debit card. I was sure I had come out with it because before I went shopping, I used it to fill my car with gas but I was a bit worried that maybe I had dropped it at the gas station. I used the household account card, and when I got to the car, I turned the air conditioner on high and looked through my purse again. I am happy to say I found the card where I had put it i— n a place where I don’t usually put it! And the great thing about banking on line is that I can transfer money from my personal account back into the household account very easily.

I am spending the rest of the afternoon watching Star Trek reruns in the air conditioned  bedroom. When they are over, I will get into my books. I found the last book in Bernard Cornwell’s trilogy about Alfred the Great and I am really enjoying it.

Physical therapy in the pool tomorrow!

In fairness to you, it has to be said that the pushing of shopping carts always features a fair amount of lurching around – for all of us. If only all 4 wheels would move in the same direction it’d be a good start. 🙂

Look how far you’ve come, here! I’d say you get the award for “Most Improved”. I know you can’t wait for it to be perfect, but from here, it looks fabulous! Love to you! ~M

That looks like a neat book. I just went to the Amazon website to look it up. Spent the entire day out running around doing errands and I was very glad that I didn’t get too sore. It’s feels good to stop hurting.

Please don’t beat yourself up! I think that you’re doing wonderfully and making terrific progress. Right now you’re trying to reteach your muscles and nerves to work again, and that’s hard work. I do know what you mean by the debit card situation — I keep having nightmares about misplacing it, and always checking my bag to make sure that it’s there.

Have fun with PT in the pool! I do that with my cards sometimes too. It’s nice to have a backup one so that you can still pay until you figure out where your other card is. Too many cards in one wallet, I say! Or maybe that’s just my issue.

I’m always misplacing my devit cards in my purse. I have one of those purses with all the pockets for “organizing” stuff. Yeah right! Just that many more places to misplace things. 🙂
