Update by List

  • Our company left. It was nice having them; it is also nice when we are alone
  • I stupidly walked a mile on Saturday in heat and very high humidity and nearly {literally} knocked myself out. I felt dizzy and a bit sick
  • I didn’t walk at all today
  • I finished my "Firefly/Serenity" dvd marathon and this evening started on disc one of  "The Lord of the Rings."
  • I have physical therapy tomorrow at 8 am! What WAS I thinking of to accept this time! My alarm clock is set for 6 am. I haven’t used my alarm clock for YEARS!
  • I think I mentioned way back that I was reading a book by Bernard Cornwell about Alfred the Great of England? Well, when I started it, I didn’t realize it was a trilogy and I had started with Book 2! Today I started Book One and it is quite interesting reading them out of order! I will be somewhat annoyed if the library doesn’t have Book Three when I go in on Tuesday!
  • This is coming week the last week I am scheduled for physical therapy. There are two full weeks after that before I go to Italy. I will see what Leslie {physical therapist} thinks about one more week of PT. But, I have this feeling that where I am is as good as it is going to get. It doesn’t worry me a lot to be using a cane.
  • I WILL continue with my exercises at home and when I am in Italy.
  • Have I mentioned my travel agent has sent me an email stating that US Airways will be responsible for getting me a wheelchair at Philadelphia and onto the plane to Rome and that Alitalia will do the same for me from Rome to Pisa? It is possible that I will be able to walk the distances between gates but, since this is the first time I have done this trip, I want to be sure.
  • Next important thing to do is to start on lists for the trip….Preparation is half the fun!

WOW, it’s almost here!!!!! I’m so excited for you! E and I have always wanted to travel somewhere abroad but haven’t had the chance. Maybe one of these days. I think you will be surprised at how much your leg and hip will gain even without the PT. Really, just using it in a normal way ( now that you are healed ) is about the best therapy you can have. Hugs, M

I can’t believe that the trip is almost upon you! How fun!

Very useful to have those email confirmations. I do hope you plan on posting pictures of the Italy trip? That sounds like so much fun.

Have a wonderful trip! *hug*

I can’t believe your trip is almost here. And I’m so impressed by how busy you stay, with such a fascinating variety of activities. You are truly an inspiration.

Oh, I’m so proud of you for making this trip to Italy! I want to do that for myself some day too.

My wife has had both hips “replaced”. At the final scheduled visit to the surgeon after the “first” hip was done, the Dr. said that the wife could go back to doing everything she had done before. I asked him if that meant she could go back to “Bungee Jumping.: He looked at me for a moment and then said, “Except for Bungee Jumping.” After the second hip was replaced the wife asked the Dr. if people ever had troublews after replacement. The Dr. said that maybe ten % had trouble as the “New Hips” wore out. I came out with – “Hell, put in a Zerk Fitting.” The Dr. laughed and said he liked that idea. In case you don’t know, a “Zerk Fitting” is what is attached to a cars suspension or where ever and is used to “Grease” the car. 🙂 – – – –

I think its great that you’ve got a wheelchair sorted. You probably can walk the distances, but what is the point of tiring yourself and giving yourself more stress when there could be someone nice to take care of you? Three weeks to Italy! How exciting.

Had a dream about you in Italy the other night. There were actually people speaking Italian in my head!!!! It was very cool. I just know that this is going to be a wonderful trip and that you’re going to be fine!!!!! Love you great big bunches!!!! ~M

The trip is really exciting to read about. You are smart about the wheel chair. Some gates are very far apart from each other. It is strange to read about areas still being warm when it is much cooler here.
