Mostly about Yesterday
Yesterday was MUCH better walkwise. I took the Tylenol and then set out an hour later and did a slow mile. I also took my camera and stopped often to take pictures. Most of them were not much good but, hey, with a digital camera, I haven’t wasted anything! I will probably put up two or three after physical therapy which is at the "uncivilized" {and here I quote Fred} hour of 9:30 am!
Yesterday something amusing happened. Our former landlords, Mike and Melanie and their daughter Gretta, came to visit and they had to telephone us to get in! Fred was sitting in the living room with earphones in his ears listening to music which is where he usually is. I usually hear people knocking at the door or the phone but yesterday, I decided to treat myself to a "Firefly/Serenity" DVD marathon. {I "Firefly/Serenity and I will finish the marathon today!} So, I was comfortably arranged on the bed with the DVDs, my Mac and earphones. Anyway, the phone in the other room rang and I didn’t hear it. Then, just at the end of the phone message I took the earphones out of my ears and heard this voice on the machine. So, I got up, grabbed my stick and hobbled into the workroom where the phone is, When I realized it was Mike, I said, "Where are you?" And they were right outside the door! So, they came in for a while and we got caught up. Gretta is two and even though she is like most babies of this age, both her parents kept a very close watch on her. Unfortunately, they didn’t bring Malcolm the dog… We happened to have some stuffed animals in a box so I gave Gretta a black poodle. She said "doggie!" Very cute!
{Short pause here because Fred got up and I got him his coffee.}
The physical therapy place is right above the drug store so when I have finished, I need to remember to get myself some anti-itch cream . Since I am a source of food for every insect in Vermont that bites, I actually do have some but the tube is almost empty and I have an itchy bite on the back of my right ankle that I am trying very hard not to scratch! Some time today, when I have recovered from physical therapy, I will go to the medical supply store and check out folding canes.
Since I mentioned physical therapy, it reminded me that when I went for my massage yesterday, Beth asked me how I was and I told her the incision occasionally gave me a little twitch of pain but the physical therapy was killing me! But, ever so slowly, I AM seeing improvement so, I suppose, it is doing what it is supposed to do. Yesterday, for the first time, I was able to get up from a seated position without using my arms. I have not been able to do it again, as yet, but I was cheered by being able to do it once!
Italy is getting closer! I am feeling a little butterfiles-in-the-stomach excitement….

You have been doing a great job recovering! It always makes me smile when I see / hear about people that I “know” doing wonderful after their surgeries. Gosh, I am so excited for you and going to Italy as well. It is going to be a wonderful experience.

Progress! You’re doing sooo well. And I bet you miss Malcom. Was great that they visited you guys though. I know you loved your landlord/lady when they were still living in the house. I get bitten by just about every bug too, BUT I use a lemon on my skin and it keeps them from biting. And it smells good 🙂

RYN. In Edinburgh there are FOUR Christmas shops selling Christmas decorations all the year! And they must make a profit, or they would close!
