To Start the Day, a Walk!
The temperature is 71 at this time {9:30 am} and the humidity is 66 %. I just got back from walking around the block which is 4/10th of a mile. If it wasn’t so humid, I would have walked up and down our street one more time thus doing half a mile, but I decided I had better go in and drink water. I haven’t looked at myself in the mirror but I feel as if I have those unbecoming heat blotches on my face! My IPod mini ran out of power just as I rounded the corner on the home stretch. I think I might have tried the last bit –up and down our street one more time — if I had music! Maybe I would have tried the last bit if I had had a better night. I slept from 11 pm until midnight, got up at 12:30, went back to bed at 2 am and was up at 5 am. I have no idea what brings these insomniac nights on. Hmmm, it has just occurred to me that I think the last one was before a physical therapy day, too. But I am not anxious about physical therapy… Actually, I LOVE physical therapy because it is going to get me walking onto that plane in September…
Today at very-close-to-eleven, I am going to drive myself up the road to PT. Yes, you read that correctly, I am back driving again. I am also going to take two checks to the bank if I feel up to it after the PT and if not then, maybe this afternoon. One good thing about being confined to the house as long as I have been is that I have spent no money!
Tomorrow is a day when the library is open all day so I am planning to drive down there, turn in the books that Amanda brought me, and pick up a few more. The library is downstairs but there is an elevator, or, if I am feeling good, I could walk down the looooong wheelchair ramp. Walking down it is doable, but I don’t want to walk up it. It is not only long, but {I think} quite steep. At least one physically-handicapped person I know no longer goes to the library because the handicapped parking has been put so far away from the entrances–and, of course, there is that long and steep ramp. It will be nice to have some new books to read.
Things I hope to do today:
- order a scrap booking magazine for my younger son’s partner. I will do that right after I have finished here.
- get the checks ready to deposit in case I decide to go to the bank after PT
- gather up all the library books scattered here and there and put them in a bag and possibly even into my car ready to go to the library tomorrow.
- take a nap?
- maybe try a short walk up and down our street thus doing my half mile today.

The walking sounds great. The humidity is a real killer though. That is why I so love my early mornings to do chores before the day heats up.

I do like the attitude that “I love PT because it is going to get me walking on that plane in September.” What a refreshing outlook! Thanks for sharing!

Why is it they put the handicap spots so far away? We have run into that too. Pretty stupid move I think. YAY for your walk!!! Very humid here today too. UGH! Hugs, M

I hope you get some good books to read. How lovely to have such hot weather, though I wouldn’t like the humidity.
