This is a Title*
EDIT: I have cleaned the bathroom including the floor AND driven my car TWICE! Well, the first one wasn’t much of a drive since I just backed it out of our landlord’s parking place which he had kindly lent me for the after-surgery no-car duration and reparked it behind Fred’s car. Then Fred said he wanted to go get some stuff this afternoon so I backed my car out onto the street and took it on a little drive round the block! It is now parked on the street. When Fred gets back from his errands, I will park behind him because tomorrow, at five minutes to eleven, I am going to take myself to my own physical therapy appointment! {It takes about two minutes to drive up the road to the physical therapy place } I just dropped back into driving as if I had never been gone. I was really apprehensive last week and this week, well, I just did it!
I am writing this on Sunday morning and I have as yet taken no pain pills. I have very little pain. In fact what I have can be classified as low-level discomfort. Every day I am moving towards feeling normal. I am still limping without using a cane but when I make an effort, I can walk maybe two to three steps before the limp comes back. I am very cheered by writing these things…
Yesterday, I finally got the kitchen clean and this means the floor. It was a job that took a lot of energy and I had to stop and rest in the middle of it. But from now on, I can sweep, mop and wet-mop it every few days as I used to. One thing I do like about the tile on the floor is that it actually doesn’t ever look dirty even when it is! Mike and Melanie {our previous landlords who renovated this apartment} did an excellent job with the floors.
What I want to do today:
- go for a walk. {I didn’t go yesterday}
- do my physical therapy exercises. {I DID do those yesterday}
- clean the bathroom especially the floor.
I have added a new quotation. I found it on a favorite’s diary this morning and it is SO apropos of my life right now….
QUOTATIONS:
"Step by step. I can’t think of any other way of accomplishing anything."
Michael Jordan
If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed.
— David Viscott

I read a lot of your diary. Very interesting……….who used to say that…..oh well, I forgot.

I like things that look clean even when they’re dirty, more than things that look dirty even when they’re clean! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Sounds like you’re making really good progress. 🙂 I hate my kitchen floor – it has carpet tiles. Who’s crazy idea that was I don’t know.

I read your entries yesterday and today, I had too much going on to comment. I was going to say that I understand the frustration with the cleaning thing. When I get super sick, I dislike watching the house get messy. You are doing so well! I like how you set little goals. I tend to set unrealistic ones and get mad at myself for not reaching them.

Yahoo! for going without the cane. That is so wonderful! And that quote reminds me of another that I have hanging on my wall: “ANYTHING can be done small step by small step.” (Patrisha) *grins*

RYN: Thanks for that, I’ve just set it up. Now I’m waiting to see if it works OK. It’s funny, when I haven’t used the machine for a while, I think I’m going to send it back, then I play with it and love it, and I want to keep it regardless. I guess I’ll get used to it eventually.

It seems to me somebody could make a lot of money selling a tile that doesn’t look dirty even when it is. We could sure use some of that! A completely unrelated thought just occurred to me: What does a person sound like after growing up in Britain and then living in Mississippi for 30 years? It seems to me it would be a strange (to my ears) combination of “accents.” Has anyone ever described your diction to you? I’m sure it sounds completely normal to you. Interestingly – and you may know this – I’ve been told that the pronunciation in the southern US is closer to the British diction of the 18th century than anything else being spoken today. And … of course, most important! – I’m very glad your recovery seems to be progressing so well. Italy on the horizon!

You are making a good recovery now, so that’s good! RYN. I just find big ginger cats attractive, and that’s really the only reason! During my life I’ve had black and white cats, and tabby cats, but never a ginger. When Roz was at university she used to have the cat that lived down the stairs from her visit the flat, and it was ginger with a loud purr, and I loved it! Roz said that I ought to go for personality more than looks, and I’m sure that she’s right, but I do so want a ginger!
