Physical Therapy

Yesterday I walked up and down our road twice which is 4/10th of a mile. That was in the morning. In the afternoon I went to physical therapy for 45 minutes and she really worked me hard. Usually I go to bed somewhere between 10:30 and 11:30 and wake around 6 am. Last night I went to bed at 9:30 {and it was a struggle not to go before then} and woke up pretty close to 7 am! I have no pain this morning — just an occasional twinge from the incision BUT the muscles in the top of my left leg feel stiff and a bit uncomfortable so when I went out to walk this morning, I decided that I would only go up and down the road one time this morning and maybe one time this afternoon. In other physical therapy news, I have an appointment for tomorrow and three more next week — one of which is in a pool!

Fred woke up and got up very early this morning, before me, in fact. When I got up, he told me that it was because he forgot to take his pills last night. So, at 9:30 am, he is back in bed having had hot chocolate and toast early and coffee with me! The great thing about being retired is that it doesn’t really matter very much if one misses sleep because it can be made up any time. I used to get periods of insomnia when I was working and they were awful because I was really sleep-deprived. Now, when I go through these cycles, it is not a big thing because I can nap during the day.

It is going to be another hot day today. We already have our air conditioners on and there is a fan blowing on me here in my workroom. I have not yet decided on a task-for-the-day and there may not be one. I may just fritter this time away just because I can!

I used to suffer a bit of insomnia from time to time when I worked full-time also. I think the reason I no longer do, is that I no longer feel pressured to “sleep when I can, cuz once the alarm rings, I can’t!!” hugs, Weesprite

It’s 16 degrees here, and blowing a gale. This is July and we haven’t had any sun at all. Just tons of rain, floods, wind and cold. It’s like bloody November! 🙂

I’m glad that you weren’t in a lot of pain today. I enjoy that part of sleep, too, right now since I am not working, but it makes me worried that I’ll have a hard time getting back into the swing of things once I do go back to work. It is nice right now though ;)!

I just love your progress reports. I love how far you’ve come and that you aren’t in pain in the hip joint.

It’s building to a scorcher today too. Glad to hear that you’re doing better. You’re going to love the water therapy — you hardly notice that you’re working out.

SOunds like you are doing sooo well!!! As i’m back on the library computers I don;t really have time to read past entries. BUT, I did notice that you said you are GOING to PT now! That’s awesome!!! I can’t believe your trip to Italy is comeing up this fast!! Hugs to you and Fred! M

Being able to sleep when you want sounds like pure heaven to me! Another thing to look forward to in the future. I’m glad that you are doing so well.

Loving the pink! I’ve been going to physio 4 times a week. One of these times is in the pool. It’s so helpful. I might start going to the pool twice a week and to the physio twice a week.
