Update
I am pretty sure that lack of sunlight is what is causing this lethargy I have been experiencing for two days. or, perhaps it is just that my body is busy healing and there is no energy left for anything else…
Yesterday I got myself to the bathroom using the walker and almost on an impulse, I got myself into the shower, fully dressed! Now, I have been thinking about what I could do and visualizing myself doing this for days, but, as I discovered, I hadn’t spent much time thinking about getting out! Anyway, I just reversed what I had done to get in and got out successfully! So, if I have any kind of energy at all tomorrow morning, I am going to have a real shower!
I am irritated with myself for giving in to this lethargy and not walking for two days {except around the house} but I have been doing my exercises—well, the lying down ones, anyway. This morning I was up at 4 am and reading in my chair. At 6 am I was back in bed until 8 am. I wanted to sleep later but at 8 am, my bowels made it quite clear that I needed to be in the bathroom and after the pain-filled days when I thought there was a bowel obstruction, believe me, when my bowels want me to get up, I am up! I did nap for an hour this afternoon and I feel much better. Tomorrow is a new day and I am really looking forward to that shower! I actually have my clean clothes in the bathroom already!
I think a visiting nurse comes tomorrow to take blood to test for coumadin levels and I know the physical therapist will be here on Wednesday. It will be three weeks since surgery next Tuesday and a week from next Tuesday I have an appointment to see the surgeon.

I’m sure that the shower will feel like a vacation to you! As far as being “lazy”, a break will not hurt anything. Your muscles need some time off, too. When my MIL was in rehab after her hip replacement, they never did physical therapy on the weekend. They said that it gives the muscles time to rest and repair.

I can understand about the daylight. I replaced my reading lamp bulb with a ‘true-daylight’ one, and I’ve been noticing a small shift. It’s hardly there, but I’m noticing it, and my sleeping patterns are slowly coming around too. So there might be something to that! Good luck with the shower! And hey, remember, you’re still healing up from surgery — you’re going to feel lethargic from time to time.

Oooooh, that shower is going to feel SO good to you!! AS for the lethargy, well, your still recovering from your surgery. It will come! Hugs, M

:-)Yes, a shower will be lovely. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You are still doing your exercises and getting on well. Your body really does need plenty of sleep in order to heal itself. Plus, all the exercises ad efforts that you make must really take it out of you.

Your neighbors called me and when the wind blows from your direction they complained. Wanted to know just when you were going to finally get into the damn shower with soap and water and quit talking about it!!! Good for you!!! have fun…dan

You could always go outside and sit in a lawn chair while Fred hoses you down. That would almost be like a shower 😉
Warning Comment
Is it possible for you to go to a park and sit and just watch people or the ducks? Being outside makes me feel better too. Sometimes I just sit on a chair in the driveway and knit, just to be outside and see other people and the sun.

Wow a shower will make you feel great and hopefully help with the lethargy.

I think I would go insane not being able to shower…. I love my showers.

Iwould have a hard time going that long without a shower. I guess you do what you have to. Enjoy it when you get there. I’m sure it will be exhilerating.

Keep on visualising what you want to do, and you’ll be able to do it. Positive thoughts are very successful for getting what you want!
