The Day Today

This morning I walked out on to the deck, down two steps, down the drive past my car and Fred’s car and then out onto the sidewalk to the front of our neighbor’s house, stopped to contemplate their sunflowers and then walked back. All this was done with Jen, the physical therapist right there. Then before she left, we practiced me going down the stairs with the walker. Coming up is easy because I just lift the walker up on to the deck and then hang onto the sturdy rails our landlord put up for us.

And then this afternoon, I did the whole thing all over again by myself just to see if I could! This time I walked a little less distance on the sidewalk but I made it out and back by myself. Jenn said that next week, we will figure out a way for me to get into the shower safely. Oh, and I am doing well enough that she will be coming only once a week.

We had a big hoo-ha about giving a blood sample this morning –my veins were not cooperating — but when the nurse came by later, blood WAS extracted successfully. My reading has gone down to 2.5 but it is, apparently, still too high so I have to break a coumadin in half tonight and then go back to to the 2.5 regular dose and more blood will be drawn next week; I will be glad when I am off this stuff.

Tomorrow at around 1 pm, my younger son and his girlfriend will be here for a couple of hours! I am SO looking forward to seeing them both!

I think I overdid it a little today because for the first time in a long time, I had to take  a 5 mg oxycodon but I can feel the pain ebbing away…

My mom is on coumadin and hates the blood testing.

you’re doing sooo wonderful! I’m happy about that! And when I was on the walker, boy, I was not able to go up or down stairs, it was waaaay too scary.

WOW!!! That was a BIG day!! I’m so glad that you are starting to get around easier. When E broke his hip and finally got the o.k. for a shower we put the shower chair in the tub. Then he sat with his back to the rear shower wall, legs out front of the tub. After that he would swing his legs around while lifting the injured one just enough to get it into the tub. Hugs, M

wow! Very impressed! that’s a lot.
