Quick Thoughts Listed

  1. If I didn’t love Fred already, I would love him for the fact that he is doing portion control of the evening meal for me! He brings me just enough and if I want more after the 20 minutes, he brings that, too.
  2. On my Mac book, I have this lovely screen saver. The screen fills up with water and very realistic fish swim around. Bubbles rise and the water runs and gurgles. This would be fine except that the running-water noise triggers an urge for me to go to the bathroom…. Not easily done when one has a walker! LOL
  3. Happy You-Lost-Your-Chance-to-Remain-a-Colony Day to America! When I was teaching the seventh grade, I used to tell them I didn’t celebrate We Lost the Colonies Day! Of course, this makes no sense unless I tell you I have a very pronounced English accent!
  4. I am seriously considering venturing out onto the deck today…With the walker, of course! {And wearing shorts, too!} This is the only time I regret giving away all my skirts…
  5. Two weeks and one day ago, I had this surgery. A lot has happened in 15 days!

Now I am off "like a herd of turtles" to get my book and to read in the Lazy Boy for an hour or two…

I love that new phrase, “off like a herd of turtles.” :o) !! I also like the new name, “Lost Our Chance to Remain a Colony Day”! Having always been more interested in British History than American, I would not have minded if we’d stayed a colony, probably. (If we were a colony, what would George Bush be? Guv’na?) hugs, Weesprite

My husband says, a “Terd of Hurdles” but that’s another entry. LOL! I can’t believe it’s been 15 days already! The days just ZIP along, don’t they?

WOW! Just noteiced your countdown to Italy. It’s coming fast! ENjoy your time on the deck today!! Happy 4th to both you and Fred! Hugs, M

RYN: YES, and you’re paper is among the drying 🙂 It’s taking FOREVER to dry…wet, chilly, blah. Poo.

It sounds like you’re really recovering well–that’s great. I desire a MacBook but am waiting for Leopard and more money. Now I have to hire a locksmith to unlock my garage.

RYN: You are old enough to remember the “New Math” movement in the 60’s. Mathematicians tried to bring pure math to students but for a variety of reasons it didn’t work (teachers didn’t have enough training, textbook publishers weren’t producing good texts)…

RYN: Now this will seem very strange that I make my private life and relationship public, but my public life in private notes, it’s because it would be very easy to figure out who I am if I talk about math education publically. There are very few people online that discuss this particular topic…

At any rate, what isn’t so widely known is that in relation to the number of college students enrolled the number of math majors was about 10 times what it is today because of New Math. And in fact, since 1970 the absolute number of math majors has not risen in 37 years! However, the engineering math that is taught certainly has…

…has resulted in many more students majoring in engineering than in the 50s and 60s. But we import half of our math majors and faculty from overseas because there aren’t enough qualified or interested students to fill the vacancies.

You are doing so well! That’s really funny what you told your class. I’m sure they had a chuckle out of it.

Independence Day is very formative to Canada…we got the Loyalists who greatly influenced the development of our country.

🙂

🙂 I love that phrase too – in fact I love both. Gosh, heading out to the deck – wow! 🙂 Smiling at Fred’s portion control. Yeah, that’s truly lovable.

Happy “Lost the colonies day” to you too.

*huggs* and hope you recover quickly!!!! Fred is a doll!

I had a grin at the colonies thing. Canada still has governmental ties to Britain that seem outmoded to me, but that’s a discussion for another day. It’s good to hear how you are doing. I can’t have anything with water sounds for the same reason as you! My Mom has a pond in her backyard that drives me bonkers, haha.

I hope that the day was pleasant out and that you got out to the deck. I remember being able to get outside for the first time after the surgery, and it had been an unusually warm day and just luxuriating in the sun. God bless Fred for being there and able to take care of you.

All good things. I’m glad you have Fred too 🙂
