A Brief Comment

I actually figured out how to wash my own hair this morning. AND, after Fred had washed my back, I gave myself a standing-up sponge bath at the sink in the bathroom. It is amazing how much better I feel being mostly-clean again! I say mostly because I didn’t wash my legs but they will get done maybe tomorrow because I will ask Fred to wash them while I am in bed!

Ok, more later! The effort of standing to get clean wore me out and anyway, it is time to do the first set of lying down exercises…

Incidentally, I LOVE this new spell checker!

oh I know the feeling, so I’m celebrating with you! After I gave birth to Carrie, I was hooked up to an IV and a catheter and I thought they’d NEVER let me take a shower!! Never does a bath feel any better than at times like that or after surgery, in your case! Yaaaay!! hugs, Weesprite

I remember whooping with glee when they finally said I could have a shower after the cancer surgery — it felt soooo good.

You are so amazing! You’re awesome!!!

Oh my gosh, I remember all the sponge baths I had to take a few years ago. The first one felt wonderful, just to be clean. Then it sort of wore off and I WANTED that shower or bath. It was 5 months before I could take an actual showwer agian. They had done a major surgery and left the 13″ incision open to heal from the inside out. Now that 1st shower was WONDERFUL!!!!! Seems like you’re making an

improvement with each passing day!! Good for you!! Hugs to you and Fred!, M

You are such a trooper. I’m glad you are making steps to full recovery…and they seem to be happening quite quickly.

You’re doing great!

Waaa! How come you get the spell checker and I don’t? No fair! Hey at least you can STAND for those sponge baths. Much better than lying around all the time, I think.

Well, I still can’t write on Open Diary on the Circle. When i call up “Write” I get that screen & then the first page of O.D. appears where the text should be. I can write only a title. Tried editing, same problem. What the devil? I was hoping, seeing your note, that I could write this morning — though it was also this morning when I tried. Nope. No go. Anna

You can get specially treated bathing cloths in the drugstore that may be of some use to you at this time. I believe they were originally developed for the military, but they’re wonderful for home use, too. They’re just like the wet wipes used for babies, but they are specially treated to give you the clean of a bath straight out of the box. Just rub ’em on your skin, and then toss ’em out, no rinsing required. I got some for my mother-in-law to use after her stroke when she couldn’t quite coordinate a bath yet. She loved them.

It is amazing how much better you feel after a shower. I have to shower every morning just because it wakes me up. I don’t know what I will do if I can’t shower for a couple of days. I know I will be extra grumpy!

Good you can get out of bed, but boy I know how tiring it can be. When I got home after five days in the hospital, the first thing I did, well after a nap, was to soak in the tub then wash my hair.

When I feel dirty, it makes me feel like my energy is gone. Being clean is the best. A friend of mine broke her neck when I was in my twenties. Two of my good friends that had just finished their nursing degrees went to the hospital to ask if they could wash her beautiful long blond hair. They allowed them. There was still glass in it from the original accident! The girl fully recovered andhad several children! However, the hair washing was talked about for several years because it helped her spirit. Funny how water does that.
