Plans for the Day

Just because I HAVE these plans doesn’t mean that they will get done; however, if I have no plans, I KNOW nothing will get done.

  • continue my hunt on line for a wifi sniffer. {Anyone got one or can recommend –or not recommend– a particular one?}
  • laundry {this is almost finished.}
  • Italian
  • short walk
  • go to library
  • maybe go to grocery store?  I am totally out of bleach but it can wait until Fred does the next shopping trip.

More explanations:

Ok, a wifi sniffer. These are little devices which indicate there is a local hot spot for connecting one’s laptop to without turning the laptop on. I have only just begun my research on these. I probably won’t have much use for one here in the States because most places that have it, advertise their free wifi. I have seen it in Brueggar’s Bagels and in Boarders, and apparently, a lot of McDonalds are getting it, too. But, I am thinking that  the gadget may be of use to me in England or in Italy. Anyone got any ideas about this? The cheaper ones just indicate ALL spots. The more expensive indicate the protected and non-protected. Ours is protected which means you need to know the password before logging onto it.

In Italian, one of my objectives is to learn the various forms of the verbs so I can use them without having to think it out. In Italian verbs, the ending indicates the subject. For example, "sento" means "I hear", "senti" means "you {singular} hear", "sentite" means "you {plural} hear" and "sentiamo" means "we hear."  I need to know these endings so that I don’t have to think my way step by step through the whole present-tense conjugation to get to "sentono" which is "they hear." So, every day, I will first be writing out the conjugation of a regular  verb and then saying it aloud. And I also want to be more comfortable with the irregular verbs, too especially "essere" {to be} and "avere" {to have}

Yesterday I walked for about 10 minutes in the morning and the same in the afternoon. I want to stay with this for a few more days since I was very tired after doing this yesterday. This is a narrow line I am errr–walking because too much activity will cause the hip to hurt again. and yet if i don’t start walking a bit now, I feel it will be that much harder to recover after the surgery!

Ok, the timer has buzzed, so, off downstairs to get the whites out of the dryer and to put the permanent-pressed load in, and then out for a 10 minute walk. This will be followed by at least 45 minutes of Italian while the dryer does its thing…

a little walking each day is better than none at all. i’m sure it will help you to recover quicker if you’ve walked before the surgery. i think i’ll make a list and see what gets done. will a list motivate me? i don’t know. it’s been a while since i’ve made a list. take care,

The woman you spoke with (via email I think??) at the language school could prob’ly give you an idea of how well places advertise their laptop hookups in Italy. Also… I don’t know much about it, but I guess you’d have to be sure that one you bought here, would WORK over there! (I’m just thinking about how we could not use our American appliances in England without using a transformer….maybe other things are like that too??) I hope you have a lovely day! hugs, Weesprite

Not sure why you need one that sniffs out protected ones since you cannot connect to them.

I’m glad you explained the wifi sniffer. I had NO clue what you were talking about there. LOL Good for you on the walks. I’m sure this will help speed up your recovery after surgery. Hugs, M

Since bike riding is easier for your hip, wouldn’t it be just as productive to do that instead of walking. You would be keeping the joint limbered up and exercising the muscles as well. I have no clues abouw wifi sniffers. The above noters have a point about compatibility, though.

what we do/did is we click in our settings on search for network while driving around or sitting in a particular area. It searches and then comes up with the result. I’ve never heard of something that does the work other than you computer to begin with. I will see what I can find out though

I’m trying to get some walking in every day, and trying to control my sweet tooth. At least it’s a start, and I think you’re being very sensible about it all.

I am not the computer expert in the house. My Art is the one that knows everything. He is at work at the moment. I make lists that bother me because I rarely accomplish all the tasks.

Wifi sniffers sound interesting. My oldest daughter who just moved back in (cat and all) sits out on the deck and connects to the neighbors’ wireless, but in the house she is not able to connect to ours….in spite of being on the phone with Linksys for nearly an hour on Sunday. Computers!!! Keep walking…..i agree, doing ANY each day is better than none at all, and yes, you’ll be able to recover more quickly from the surgery.

I need to get back into my jogging.
