Doctor Day

From yesterday’s list, I DID get the clothes washed, dried and put away. But I didn’t get the refrigerator cleaned out;  however,  I DID get all my summer tops and shorts out and the heavier sweaters put away. I kept a few sweaters easily available because this is, after all, Vermont, and just because it was 80-plus degrees yesterday doesn’t mean that it will stay that way.

The other thing that I did was to sort out these tops into yes, I will wear these again and no, I haven’t warn this for a few years. I then sorted these out into two bags, short sleeves and long or three-quarter sleeves and offered these two bags on Freecycle. This was in the morning. By the afternoon, both bags were picked up, and until I posted a taken email that evening, I was still getting requests for them. Seasonable clothes go quickly!  {If you don’t know about, Freecycle, go here.}

This is the day I go to the  orthopedic {I wrote orthodontic first! } surgeon with my list of questions.

  • How long will I be in hospital?
  • What, exactly, are you going to do? {Yes, I want details and preferably a brochure with drawings. }
  • How much of a likelihood is there that I can have it done before June 19th?
  • How long will it be before I can drive again? {I DO have a new car, you know!}
  • Talk to me about what will be involved in recovery..

Now, I need to copy these questions into the notebook I have in my purse and then print out a list of medications and be sure it is up-to-date. I have pretty well stopped taking ibuprofen because since I am doing nothing,  of course my hip is only hurting minimally. But I don’t want to spend the rest of my life unable to go out for a walk!

I also need to remember that the Schwann man is delivering frozen food around 10 am. Good! I am out of fudge sticks.

QUOTATION: If your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it!

I hope you have a lovely day! It is a good idea, to print a list of questions to take to the doctor. I will try to remember that, for times when we have to go! hugs, Weesprite

That’s a good list of questions. Being prepared is excellent. I think that you are the Queen of Being Prepared.

We watched a video on hip replacement in our Segmental class on hip rotators. I really don’t think you want to know! The good news is, they do these all the time these days, so the success rate is very high.

Last summer when E broke his hip the drs. thought at first that he would need a total hip replacement. I met a gentleman in the waiting area that had recently had his done. He said he wished he had gone through with the surgery way before he did. Said the recoup time wasn’t all that bad and that the biggest thing was making yourself walk those first few days after surgery. Of course, E ended up

with 4 pins instead so he didn’t have quite the recovery time of a total replacement. The gentleman I had spoken with had pins to start with and then went with a total replacement because he still had a lot of pain with the pins. E is having this problem too and wishes they had gone ahead with a replacement hip. our orthopedic dr. has a display of all the parts involved in a hip replacement. It’s

really kind of cool to look at. Hope all goes well today. Hugs, M

I’ve never used Freecycle, but my boyfriend has sold stuff on Craig’s list and absolutely loves it! Did you know that if you donate your clothes to the Salvation Army or some other charity you can get a tax deduction? I have four trash bags full of clothes I don’t wear anymore! I know, it might sound selfish to get some monetary benefit from helping others but still. . .I can’t complain. 🙂

That’s a very intelligent thing to do in writing down the questions you want to ask. I don’t know about you, but I am very bad about forgetting everything once I am in the office. Schwann’s fudge sticks are my hubby’s favorites!
