Today So Far
I got really irritated with myslf this morning, because KNOWING I had this speech to write, I procrastinated about two and a half hours playing mindless computer games, and then went back to bed!
But I have the bare bones of it down now.
I was telling Fred a while ago that a really interesting thing happened when I was writing the speech. I usually write in English first and then translate it into Italian. This time, I wrote the whole thing in Italian. I was helped by the fact that I have actually written all this stuff before because the last speech was what I thought I was going to do and this one was what I actually did. In fact I had intended to use the cards from the first speech to help me do this one but couldn’t find them! Anyway, when I read the whole thing to Fred, it took me two minutes. This means when I actually say it to the group with cards to help me remember what I want to say, it will be around three minutes which is where it needs to be.
I did not take my bike out this morning since it had been raining all day.
On Monday, I go talk to a travel agent about my tickets to Italy. I telephoned her and gave her dates and she called me back with what she had found. Apparently it will be cheaper to go to Pisa rather than Florence which is good because it will be cheaper to be picked up from there rather than Florence. After I get the tickets finalized, I will send email to the school in Lucca asking if the pickup service is something they arrange or do they need to put me in touch with the service and I arrange it myself. I usually arrange my own plane tickets when I travel because I know that these days, travel agencies charge a fee for doing this, but I have decided that I have arranged enough. I am tired of making arrangements so although I can’t promise to be cheerful about paying a fee to the travel agency, I will do it. So, once I have paid for the tickets, all I will have to budget for is food while I am there. Oh, and I asked the agent to give me a quote for medical insurance while I am there, too. It will add about $100 to the cost of the ticket but I always do buy insurance. I had a very nasty UTI the year I went to England for my niece’s wedding and had to pay not only for the visit to the doctor but for the medication. But the insurance reimbursed me for all of it.
I am now off to clean up the books, magazines and various assorted junk on the floor on my side of the bed and then I will lounge on the bed for the rest of the afternoon flipping channels and/or reading.
And there is a sticky note going on my computer monitor tonight. It will say, "Non procrastinarò!" {I will not procrastinate!}

Back soon!
I am not normally a procrastinator, but I have been the last 2 days, hence the reason I am on Open Diary at the moment! I think we sense the end is upon us and we don’t have the drive that is there normally. I think it’s fatigue also. Good luck with your homework!

I think the ” procrastination bug ” must be going around. 😛 Hugs, M

I find that the more junk there is around, the more likely I am to procrastinate. I need to feng shui my whole life! I wonder why that is. Oldest Child Syndrome, I suspect. I can’t work in a dirty work space. I have to clean it up first.

I am a procrastinator from way back. Sometimes though I think we perform best when under pressure. I DO like your little quotes. Where do you get them from?

I see you and I share that particular habit of procrastination. I do it too, and it drives me mad, actually.

RYN: Thank you for your note. The catalyst was that it finally hit me yesterday, life is going to change us all at one point or another, and thats fine, but as far as changing core parts of me to suit other people, or letting them mold me in some preconcieved image, that is what needs to stop, this is me, take me as I am, thats what I meant lol. I hope you and Fred are doing wonderfully and have agreat day today. Talk to you soon:D.

RYN: You know, you’re actually one of my role models for when I get older. It would be wonderful to be as active and as technologically-savvy as you are.

You must be doing tremendously well in Italian to be able to think enough Italian to to write a speech. Congratulations. ryn: I’d love to look at a KIA but we don’t have any dealers within a 50 mile radius. My son-in-law has one he loves, though.
