Later in the Day
Italian Phrase of the Day: {These come from An Italian Phrase a Day desk calendar} La mia nonna è nell’ospedale. My grandmother is in the hospital. It is raining, raining, raining, but it isn’t cold. I drove up to the drugstore without putting on a coat. I wish I could walk but there is no point in wishing because "If wishes were horse, beggars would ride." This aphorism was one of my father’s favorites and my sister and I quickly learned not to say "I wish" because that is what we would get back.
I have decided to change my quotation at the bottom a little more often than every month. I get tired of reading the same one over and over. I like the one I have now. Sometimes it is not easy for me to keep on with these Italian classes when I perceive my progress to be so slow. {I have to say that I felt much better when la prof told me my progress was not as slow as I perceived it to be. } For many years, as I have mentioned before, I only did things that I found easy and it takes a lot of effort on my part to "press on, regardless." as I am doing with the Italian. I like the idea that this attitude could be considered as courage.I am waiting for the boiled milk to cool to room temperature and then I will add the good bacteria and let it incubate. Ok, back from doing that. Don’t I live an exciting life?
QUOTATIONS: Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the
end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow".

That’s a wonderful quotation, probably because it’s so true. I know what you mean about working at something when the going seems slow. That’s how I’m feeling about learning watercolors these days – frustrated. I know I only started a year ago, but I want to know it all today! Ah well, I guess I’ll just have to keep practicing.

I think that making yogurt is pretty exciting, or at the very least pretty interesting! I’ve never heard of anyone making it themselves before. Sort of like pudding; I know there has to be a way to make it from scratch, but even my grandmother’s oldest cookbook instructs you to start with a mix! If I were more ambitious, I’d look harder, but I’m not that crazy about pudding anyway. 😉

I like your new quotation too! I think it takes LOTS more courage for the quiet little voice to say “I will try again tomorrow” than for someone to always succeed on the first try. But I used to steer toward things that were easy for me too, cuz like Joe said once, I wanted to KNOW everything, but I didn’t wanna take time to LEARN it. :o) !! Here’s wishing you a good evening! hugs, Weesprite

I love that quotation. I thought it sounded like something Churchill would say but I did a Google/Yahoo search and several sources say – – Mary Anne Radmacher-Hershey Here’s a site re her: http://www.maryanneradmacher.com/

My Grandmother used to say, “If If and Ands were pots and pans there’d be no work for tinkers.” Funny how these old sayings stick with us.
