First Entry
I am still feeling slightly euphoric about the fact that there is something that can be done about this hip pain besides do things like physical therapy that only help for a short time.Of course, the more rational part of my brain is saying, "Ummm, you ARE realizing that what you are getting so excited about is major surgery, right?" Well, yes, but it is major surgery that is almost common-place these days . And I have been so much reassured and helped by all your notes. The doctor said a three month recovery time but I have a good immune system and I heal quickly so there is actually a thought in my mind that if I can’t get an earlier date, I could have it done on June the 19th and still get on the plane in the middle of September!
OK, today:
- Italian class
- meet la prof’s friend for lunch at 1 PM
- first appointment with my new resident doctor, Dr. K. at 3 pm. I have high hopes for this. When I told the scheduler I wanted to change doctors but I knew nothing about the residents, she said, "Wait a minute. Let me ask around". She then came back and said that all the "girls in the office" {and, honestly, this was her phrase not mine} said Dr. K! Now, this might be because he is another Dr. EyeCandy, but, hey, I have no prejudices against gorgeous men! And Doctor Eyecandy was a superb doctor!
I have been having a lot of fun playing around with my new toy, the cute little Mac Book. I like it a lot more now I have found out how to get rid of the Apple page when Safari {the browser} is opened. And also, thanks to the OD diarist Gemma, I now have a window for OD that takes up the whole screen. I have to say I probably would never have found this one by myself since it is a tiny little box in the bottom right corner where one can stretch the window to any size. And I have the email address of another Mac person who will give me the HTML for putting in pictures and answer ALL my questions!.
Last night I plugged in my Dazzle card reader into the Mac Book, popped in the SD card, and the pictures downloaded beautifully. So, now I know I can take pictures in Italy, and download them to my computer. And once I know how to put them here without the convenience of Photobucket lurking at the side, you too will see pictures from Italy!
Ok, now I am off to get breakfast and to get my bag packed for achool.
QUOTATIONS FOR THIS MONTH: "There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so."
Hamlet 2.2.255-256
“Every life form seems to strive to its maximum except human beings. How tall will a tree grow? As tall as it possibly can. Human beings, on the other hand, have been given the dignity of choice. You can choose to be all or you can choose to be less. Why not stretch up to the full measure of the challenge and see what all you can do?” Jim Rohn (motivational speaker/philosopher)

Looks like you’ll have to do pictures the “hard way” by going directly to photobucket.com and upload them there. Can you work more than one window at a time on the Mac like you can in Windows? You could just switch back and forth for the copy and paste thingy. That will be so cool seeing your pictures while you are still in Italy.

Hoping all goes well with the surgery…and quick healing when it’s over. Had to drop in to tell you…I began having the children recite the multiplication tables (thanks to you telling me). After one week, I was astonished. Four kids were absent, but the test today yielded only two Fs and those had a 30 point increase on their Fs. I am so pleased. Thanks!!! You know the thinking today isnot recitation and I don’t know why…it works! The rest of the grades were As, Bs, no Cs, and one D. I loved seeing their eyes shine!

I’m really happy that surgery will put an end to your pain. I’ve believed for a long time now that if you want to find a really good doctor, then ask nurse. They know who’s good. Here’s to the Italy trip! ryn: Thank you for your encouragement regarding Louie. He seems to be doing a little better now, so we’re hopful that his next x-ray will show some improvement.

I’m happy you have options regarding your hip. I read the note re: the book being mailed early Feb. I guess if it doesn’t arrive soon I’ll buy another one, do a project & send it to you. I hope it arrives though. I’ll give it 1 more week. I can’t imagine it would take that long. Although I did just have a letter priority mailed from AZ that took 11 days to get here, at least it arrived though.
