Italian Phrase of the Day: Prenderò una lezione a ricorso. I am going to take a lesson at the resort.
My comment on this: No, non prenderò una lezione di sci. Non voglio sciare perchè temero rompere un osso alla mia età! No, I am not going to take a skiing lesson. I do not want to ski because I am afraid to break a bone at my age!
In case you are curious as to where these Italian phrases are coming from, Fred gave me an Italian Phrase a Day desk calendar for Christmas. {Hmmm, maybe I should put the source up there with the quotation.} I quite enjoy doing this every day and am finding an easy source of amusement in constructing my comments in reply! And are you noticing those accented letters? Thanks again, pbreader!
I don’t know if I have previously mentioned the difficulty I was having in getting the last book of the three we need for the new class {which starts in TWO weeks!} La prof gave me a web site which is under construction, a phone number which proved NOT to be the business I was looking for, an email address which was not valid because the email came bouncing back and a 1-800 number. I finally called this number today and after pressing a few ones and twos, got a real live customer service person, who asked me for the ISBN number, took my order, got my credit card number and told me the book and CD would be here on Saturday of this week or Monday of next week! Believe me, there will be world-wide dancing in the streets when it arrives!
We finally got our rent paid for this month. The reason we were so late is that our landlord was gone on vacation over Christmas and New Year and just got back last night. He was just coming up our steps to get the check as I opened the door to go to his apartment to give it to him.
I just went out to get the mail and it is snowing! Well, just light flurries and I am not sure it is even going to settle but I am really glad I went for my walk this morning. Here is how the river looked this morning. I walked down to the new Riverwalk but only walked a very short distance there since there was a nasty wind coming off the river.
When I got home, I filled the new bird feeder up and hung it outside. Here is a closeup of it. When anything heavier than a small bird alights on it, a cover drops down over the feeding holes. Well, in theory, that is. We haven’t seen it work as yet because neither the birds nor the squirrels have found it yet!
In this picture you can see the new feeder, and off in the distance on the right, the old feeder {NOT squirrel proof] which I moved over to the lilac bush. When the sqirrrels or the birds clear it out, I will put it away.
QUOTATION FOR THIS MONTH: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius
Until later….
Hmmm. . . You’ve got snow, another Fave in WVA is getting snow, I wonder if I’ll see snow??

You have a nice backyard! And….you have snow?! And your first noter said that WVa has snow?!!!! Today it is cold here….maybe we will get snow! I feel MUCH happier just thinking of the possibility! btw, I enjoy reading your daily Italian phrases and answers also! hugs, Weesprite

A little snow would be nice. But it would be a catastroph here in Austin, Texas. If it were to snow, the drivers here, not knowing how to drive in it, would be having a hell of a lot of crashes. The auto body shops would get rich. LOL

I don’t think there is any such thing as a squirrel-proof feeder. They always figure it out eventually.

We were supposed to get snow today here in KY, but we got nothing but cold. I’m having some of the same type of issues with some textbooks that I need for my classes. I hope it comes when they said!

Snow, snow? There ain’t no snow ‘ceptin’ a flake or three. My friend Bill told me that a few folks with sugar bush are tapping a few trees and boiling sap. Just for fun or whatever, cuz the maple syrup will have only 1/2 the normal amount of sugar. He also mentioned lilac budding and even on another plant leaves of an inch or more having come out. The dummies think it’s spring. Maybe havta put a calendar where they could see it.

the river looks attractive – but cold. gosh that squirrel proof feeder looks robust. I love your italian quotes – and to be honest -at 33 already I don’t want to go skiing because I’m afraid of breaking a bone. Though I would still like one day to go on a winter holiday, just to enjoy the warmth of the chalet, mulled wine, fondu and winter walks. One day perhaps.

well, I certainly hope that this one is squirrel proof, but they are smart little critters.

I’m enjoying your Italian phrases. 🙂 I spoke with someone in southern West Virginia and it is, indeed, snowing there as well. Love your new bird feeder! xoxo,

I just love that you’re learning Italian. My youngest son is going to Italy in the spring so I’m on the lookout for a phrase or two that he can use. Your frequent quotations are giving me a sense of the language that I’m really enjoying.

I can’t believe how green it is there. You can see from the pictures from my road trip to Anchorage how snowy it is here in the interior. I can’t wait to hang a few bird feeders in our new yard. Thanks for sharing the thought of spring & green with me. Although spring won’t be here till late May (usually.)

Snow? What’s snow? 🙂 Here in Minnesota we have had hardly an inch, most of the grass is still showing. It’s supposed to get cold this weekend, however. I love the Italian phrases, btw…Hugs,

Nifty bird feeder!!! We feed the wild birds, too…

The weather here is just strange. We’re swinging between warmth, then a cold wind, then back again. I wonder if we’re going to see snow at all this year.

I bet the riverwalk is beautiful. Wish we would get some snow, especially since it has been cold here. Ah well, I don’t think it’s in the cards. Hugs, M

Yes I am definitely interested in doing the art book. I thought I had left you notes previously? Hmmm, am I loosing my mind. Or maybe I just told my sister about the project. Anyway yes I am interested. Has anyone else expressed an interest?

ryn: nope. Don’t know the exact date yet. I think 30 days is the min. I wonder if I could call the sheriff’s office and find out? Thats a matter of public record, right? As long as she stays away until after my mom’s visit. I am SO afraid of what NR would say to my mom. (Nothing bad about me, but what she does for a living. I dunno. I can only imagine not wonderful things being said!)

You are welcome.:) That’s a fancy-schmansy birdfeeder.

I love watching the birds. I havea couple of feeders hanging over the deck so we can watch them in our family room. Some days there are so many birds. But it’s been a while since i have seen any. Usually finches and sparrows. I wonder if the lack of snow is keeping them away? I really miss watching them.
