Morning Entry

The oral report is written. Hmmm, that sounds odd, doesn’t it! But I have to work out the sentences and make sure the vocabulary is as correct as I can make it.  I am still having problems with auxiliary verbs…

This morning I will transfer what I need to cards. I have found that I am helped by writing each point in English on the card and then listing the key Italian words and phrases on there. I also need a card of what I am going to write on the board. This was a suggestion la prof made. She suggested  that if we used a word  that had not been used in class, it would help the listeners if it was on the board with its meaning. The main two I am putting on the board are "l’articolazione" which is "the pronunciation" and the related verb "articolare" which is "to pronounce." These words are not that easy to pronounce but I can remember their meaning easily by relating them to their cognate "articulate" which is a word I heard often as a teenager during my speech therapy classes! {I LOVE the word used then for those classes which was "elocution!"}

This morning I am carrying bags of clothing up and down stairs to the washer and drier in between working on the bits and pieces of the oral report still to be done. I also want to get the last two pages of the five-page report in English out of my head and onto paper. Then I can print it out and decide what changes need to be made. Other Italian-related things that need to be done are the raccontino and, if I have time, the grammar work for extra credit. Then I must focus on being able to give the oral report with very little looking at the cards. This is due on Tuesday, and, as I have mentioned, I am the first one.

The tree is up and decorated. There are wrapped gifts under it and not all of them were put there by me!

Until later….

I’m still trying to talk J into a tree. I really like your card idea for the languages — I wish I had known that one when I was taking Russian and Latin!

I sure am impressed with your dedication to your studies. I get a good plan and then fall through at the end.

Nothing like a Christmas tree with gifts around it. LOL I’m sure you will do great on your oral report but good luck anyway! hugs, M

Busy, busy for being retired. 🙂

I love Italian. There are so many cognates which help us to understand.
