A Cold Day
Well, it took about a week, but I got my lifetime membership back again! A week or so ago, I checked my subscription page and the life-time membership was gone! So, I sent a report in but I ALSO pm’d {private messaged} the diary master on the boards. And this morning I got a pm and all is well. So, I left him a pm saying thank you very much!
This morning it was very cold so I put on my officially-very-cold coat! This is a bright-yellow men’s tall-size jacket lined with thinsulate. It is very light in weight and each winter when I take it out, I think it can’t possibly keep me warm. And each winter, I am surprised! It is bright yellow because I like the color and men’s tall because I like a jacket that comes down to my butt! I walked uphill to the drug store–about a block–with the icy cold wind gusting on my back. This meant of course, that even though walking back was all downhill, the wind was in my face all the way home. I AM remembering to wear lip gloss when I go out but I need to remember to wear some kind of protectant on my face, too.
A new thing Fred and I were discussing this morning was to remind each other to get our cars off the street every evening. {This is a winter ordinance in our small city so that the snow plows can get the roads clear at night.} When we lived upstairs, in the winter we had our cars parked off street so that either of us could get out when we needed to but when we moved to the downstairs apartment, we felt we should have the parking nearest to the house. The new landlord agreed but he said we needed to park one behind the other. This means, of course, that *I* am behind Fred since I have to get out early on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings to go to class. What this also means is that if he wants to go for groceries, *I* have to get my car out of his way. This morning he said he was going to get milk, etc., this afternoon so my car is out on the street right now. What we have to remember is that if I don’t get it off the street by midnight, I will be fined $35! This is up $10 from last year which was bad enough. So, we decided to look out for each other and remind each other about this. I will bring my car in immediately after he gets home this afternoon!
I have stripped the bed and changed the sheets. I have swept and mopped the dining room and the bathroom. I still have not done the last bit of Christmas decorating and wrapped the other gift I have for Fred nor cleared off the dining room table. So, I am off to do these things…
Until later….
Ack! I definitely would move the car off the street! You have been a busy bee again today! I have not been one.

It’s cold here, too! I also like men’s size L coats, because they keep me much warmer! Also, men’s coats and jeans seem to have more pockets, and so, are much handier. hugs, Weesprite

I guess that’s better than having your car buried by a snowplow and having to wait for the Spring thaw to ever see it again!

I had to chuckle over your comment about how you forget from year to year how warm the coat is. I do the same – well, I forget how cold the winter can be. I am always surprised to shiver on my way to my car, and have to remind myself that this is December in New England – expect the chill.

Winter has hit here too. Although we have no snow they are expecting the overnight lows to be between 5 and 10 degrees in the coming days. That is COLD for here. RYN: I LOVE that idea. Now if I can just get E to go along with it. He seems to bend to her beck and call, but it is I who has to do the driving! Hugs, M

i just let the dog out and saw on the thermometer that it is barely 10 degrees! i am glad i have my garage bay though, and don’t have to worry about street parking. i’m sorry that you do! We have those Winter Parking Rules here too, and so many people either get towed or get tickets each winter. i have a favorite “barn coat” (that’s what the Target tag called it when i bought it many years ago) that i wear on most of my outdoor walks. It’s a jean jacket-coat, that does go below my butt. It’s lined with a red plaid material and some filling – polyester i suppose – but it is so warm! i usually wear a turtleneck and then a sweater or sweatshirt underneath it (the whole dress-in-layer thing), and i can even work up a sweat on a long walk on a cold winter day!

p.s. what’s so important about the Lifetime member designation? is that something you pay for ahead of time?

saw your note on poppy’s diary….did you know that they have an actual medication for RLS now?

I’ll have to look for a coat with thinsulate now. I hate coats because the bulk drives me nuts. On all but the coldest of days, I usually go out with a thermal, a sweat shirt, gloves & a scarf. If I could find a thin coat that worked I’d be thrilled 🙂

oh gosh, that’s steep – on the other hand,at least you get a good snow service. I guess you need it in your part of the world though.

I hope you don’t end up with a ticket for a car on the street. It seems you two are ontop of the situation. I saw your yellow coat, I think in the photo where you were snowshoing. Am I right? Yellow is one of my fav colors too.
