And the Day so Far…*
EDIT FOR BAH-HUMBUG: The tree is up. The back side of it is decorated with red and silver balls {unbreakable} The front of it has nothing but the little white lights. if I am feeling a bit more Christmassy tomorrow, I will finish it. I totally underestimated the time it takes to do all this…I am taking a break from putting the new Christmas tree up. Actually, it went together pretty easily but I find the job of "fluffing" the branches incredibly irritating!
Fred just made a comment about wondering who had not put a new stick of butter in the dish when she used the last bit of butter! I replied by saying it was probably the same person who is putting the Christmas tree up by herself …
On the subject of incredibly irritating, our landlord washed and dried a huge pile of clothes about three weeks ago and they are still in a heap on top of the drier! This is irritating because I use the drier top to fold the clothes before I bring them upstairs and now I can’t do that. AND his huge heap of stuff has to be peered over and reached around to set the drier controls!
I went for a walk this morning in the rain with my walking buddy. I carried an umbrella and the walk was not unpleasant. Mind you, my umbrella blew inside out while I was walking, and although it folded down when I got home, it did not seem to want to open up again when I put in in the porch area to dry. When I lived in Mississippi, I always opened umbrellas to dry because anything wet left folded or wadded developed a quick case of nasty mold! There is not that problem in Vermont!
What I hope to accomplish today:
- laundry. The last load is in the drier now. All that needs to be done is folding and putting away.
- decorating the tree. Well, I am about 7/8th finished with the "fluffing." Then comes putting up the ornaments. I am not going to knock myself out over this. It can be finished tomorrow.
- walk. One done. It would be nice if I got another one done, but no one take bets on me doing this, right? Hmmm, it occurs to me that I could walk down to the library and change my books thus getting two jobs done at one time…
- Italian. What I have in mind is the grammar work which, in a weird kind of way, I actually enjoy!
- eat lunch. This is what I am going to do next…
Until later….
isn’t it great to be able to wash any day you feel like it? it’s beginning to get windy down here now. i better go see if it’s raining and if so, bring merlyn inside. take care,

It is so windy here that it blew over or down some of the outside decorations that my husband put up last night! I bought myself one of those umbrellas at Wal-mart that have two layers to them and it keeps the umbrella from turning inside out. They weren’t very expensive and it kept me dry for a couple of years so far!

I am so far behind in reading OD. I’ll try to catch up a little, but I just wanted to say hello.

I find it so irritating when people only do PART of their laundry! At Carrie’s home, no one ever seems to transport the dried clothes away from the dryer-top either. I wonder if you bought a cheap laundry basket and plopped all his clothes into it, would he take the hint? hugs, Weesprite

Maybe you could speak to the landlord in the vein of being “helpful” by asking him if he has a box or container where you can put his laundry so that it will be out of the way and not accidentally dirtied by “other people.” He might take the hint and move it, but since he’s a man, don’t count on it. *rolls*

I think there is a great sense of satisfaciton that can come from doing grmmar. On the other hand, putting up xmas trees is so much more fun. The lights were up in town, and suddenly it felt like xmas is around the corner. I could get used to that. 🙂

It sounds like your landlord is a slob. That would irritate me to no end. Ugh!

P.S. I also hate fluffing branches.

I am SO GLAD we got one of them-thar pre-lit Christmas trees last year. This year it was SO MUCH easier not to have to go through all of that. Even hanging my I-don’t-know-how-many ornaments wasn’t as tedious.

If you never feel like doing the rest of it, you can just turn it around so as to make the back side the front side, and say that your tree is decorated with unbreakable red and silver balls! Nobody’s allowed to look at the back of it! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

decorating the christmas tree takes so long. i leave my 4′ tree decorated and just unplug it and take it downstairs to the basement. that way it stays decorated. and i don’t have to do it each year. lazy, i know but i don’t much care for christmas. take care,

It takes me forever to do our tree and we even have a pre lit one. The end product is so pretty though, so I guess it’s worth it! hugs, M

it’s a month later, I hope the landlord has moved his laundry by now. I am going to go through your photos for Dec. I’ve enjoyed other diarist who have posted daily. I wish I’d been paying attention I would have done the daily photo too. Maybe I’ll do it for Jan. Happy New Year.
