Rant

We have had no television for 5 days. But that is not what I am ranting about. It is, after all, as I often say, only television and not very high in my list of important things I can’t live without. Those of you who read my anti -verizon entries way back know that if I could not use my computer {remember? it was 42 days!} I would be truly upset not just mildly annoyed as I am now

So, this morning we are supposed to have a tech come out and fix the dish network at 10 pm. At 8 am, the phone rang. I let the machine catch it because I was asleep. This is unusual for a person who usually gets up somewhere between 6:30 and 7 am but both Fred and I had had bad nights and I was up from 1 am until 5 am. But eventually I get up and listen to the message. It is from dish network informing us that the tech is not coming and saying, "Call this number to reschedule 1 -gabble-gabble-gabble-gabblegabblegabble."

And THAT is what my rant is about. I had to replay the message THREE damned times to get the phone number! Haven’t these people been taught to say a phone number SLOWLY and to at least REPEAT it if they MUST gabble! I eventually got the number and got through and was asked when would be convenient for me to reschedule. At this point, I said a little sharply, "Oh, as soon as possible, please because I have already been without service for FIVE days!" After I had said this, I did feel a bit guilty at my tone of voice  because it wasn’t her fault. She was just a scheduler so I DID apologise. She said she would schedule us for Friday afternoon and told me that the tech had called in sick. She said that if there was someone available today, she would call us to see if we were home. But I would be willing to bet money that we will have to wait until Friday afternoon…

When {if} someone comes on Friday, we will then have been without service for seven days! I am definitely requesting a credit for this week of no service…

Until later….

I agree with you about people not speaking slowly when giving out phone numbers!! At least, with our answering machines, we can repeat the message as many times as we need to! I certainly think you should tell them you want a discount for the week of no tv. You shouldn’t even HAVE to tell them; they should just discount it from your bill automatically! hugs, Weesprite

Yes! Get that credit! In fact….I would ask for an extra week also because of the inconvienance of having to be rescheduled!

I have a hard time understanding phone numbers on the answering machine too, they always talk to fast or mumble. 🙂

oh, for sure you should expect an extra 7 days of service (and then some!) I guess this is why I don’t subscribe to any of this stuff (well, except DSL). I get very impatient with tech suppoet people who don’t help.

How annoying! :S

Ouch, I hate when people leave numbers as no one seems to realize that though they may know the number they can rattle it off without thinking, the person who really needs it, needs it nice and slow.

Definitely ask for the credit. It’s not your fault that they don’t have someone on staff that can take the place of a sick person. That’s just business sense to have someone that can fill in for vacations and sick days. Ugh!

They should definately take off that week of service as it is their problem. In all actuality, they should credit you for more than that. When you work with the public like that customer service is supposed to come first. It doesn’t sound to me like it has at all in this case. Fridays almost here. Hang in there. Hugs, M

these days you have to ask for what you want as far as a credit. And I agree that you could even ask for more because of you inconvenience. They want your business so they usually give it to you. But they usually do not offer it.

Irritating, as you say, but not the worst thing that could happen in the world. Unless it happened to me, then it would be really bad. LOL! Rant away, my friend.

I agree, you should mention something to them about their phone manner leaving MUCH to be desired!! I would also ask for the credit – it’s the LEAST they can do.. {{Hugs}},

yes that is very annoying. I do hope they come on Friday.
