This, That, and a Bit of the Other

This morning I have done a bit, just a tiny bit more on my work room and although there is still stuff to be done, it looks somewhat better and therefore, I don’t get so frustrated and angry when I sit in here.Sunday is my day for watering the Christmas cactii {oh, I just realized that I forgot the one in the bedroom!} I only water them every two weeks and I usually carry them into the kitchen, put them in the sink and give them a good soak. So, this morning, while they were draining, I moved out the speakers where the plants  usually sit and swept up the fallen blossoms. While I had the stereo pulled out,  I decided to see if I could hook it all up. Well, the answer is "No!" because I just cannot figure out the speaker hook-ups. I got everything else done {with the exception of one element plugged in the wrong place because I didn’t  realize that it went there but Fred told me and I corrected that. I also found the manual so I am hoping that Fred can figure out the speakers while I am gone for a massage this afternoon!
We drove out to Bristol yesterday and it was a very nice ride. Mapquest said it was about 45 minutes and Google said it was an hour so,  since like Google we drive slowly, it took us an hour! I now know where the school is. I still have to make the cards with the children’s names on them and make sure my big camera is working ok. I have no reason to think it is not since I checked it the other day, but these pictures are going to be an important part of my follow-up report so I want to be sure. In fact, I will put the little camera in my purse as a backup. {Actually, the little camera is in my purse because that is where it lives when it is not on my computer table!}   I have to be at the school by 1 pm and I told the teacher the lesson would be 30 to 45 minutes long. I figure that is about the attention span of a third grader!
I have been thinking about Christmas. We have a small artifical tree mostly because we really had no room upstairs for anything bigger. But now we do have room for a bigger one so yesterday I told Fred I would look in the sales after Christmas and get one of those with the lights already on them. He told me to go ahead and get one now and not wait until after Christmas! So, some time in the next few days, I will do that!

When I got a divorce, I was quite happy to let my ex have the kid for T’giving, because, not being an American, despite living here since 1963, I really don’t have any sentimental attachments to the holiday. But I DO like to make an effort at Christmas. True, I stopped putting up decorations when the kid left home, but Fred likes to see them so since I moved in with him, I have no trouble decorating a bit. I also have got his little presents ordered. {adjusts halo} He already has his big present from me which was his comfortable reading chair! I have to say I am delighted to see him using it, too!Ok, time for me to do a bit more picking up in this room and then get some lunch before I am off for my fortnightly massage.

Until later….

The last piece of electronic equipment I purchased had all the cables and jacks color coded. Even I couldn’t mess that up!

I hope you can get your speakers fixed on your computer.. I listen to music while I’m on the computer, or t.v. shows that I might have missed during the week. Really cool! I hope you have a wonderful time with the kids tomorrow!! They are going to have a great teacher! 🙂

Just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow!!

I’ve been looking around at the pre-lit trees also, but I only have room in my house for a small tree and so far I haven’t found one just the right size. The years where I was willing to spend DAYS decorating the house for Christmas, are behind me. It’s all just so much work now, not as fun as it once was. I love the result, I just don’t want to take as much time doing it as I did before. <P> RYN…. your house cleaning plan sounds like a good one!

Have fun with the kids. 🙂

I am thinking about one of the pre lit trees too. I guess for this year I wll use the one we have and then hopefully hit a good sale after Christmas.

Oh, I can’t wait for Christmas and putting our tree up! Will you take a photo of yours and show us? Also, thanks for mentioning Christmas cactii…..I MUST remember to buy two new pots and re-pot mine. They seem to need bigger living space! Here’s wishing you and Fred a lovely evening. hugs, Weesprite

p.s. We got our pre-lit tree at Walmart two years ago and it is absolutely wonderful and soooo easy to put up. And it only cost $29.99 on sale, for a 6-foot tree! hugs, Weesprite

I love the idea of a pre-lit Christmas tree. Ours is a very old artificial tree that still uses hand strung lights that are a pain. I told hubby that I would like to get one, too, but he hasn’t said yea or nay yet about it.

the prelit trees are fabulous. Makes life so much easier 🙂

I bought a pre-lit tree last year and I loved it…three pieces (instead of 30) and easy to decorate. Will come in very handy this year because I don’t have time. Hmmmm…. I’m thinking that I should make Jim help me when he comes over for turkey dinner. It’s the least he could do, right?

My son in-law hooked up our new DVD & satelite system but I have to rewire it. He has all the wires running in front of the entertainment center. I will rerun them one at a time behind the center. What fun to have a new tree. We have a new one from Tucson that we’ve only used twice, once in Tucson & once here in Alaska. I am looking forward to decorating here in the new house, it is our first Christmas here. I am getting a new reading chair & stereo system for my formal living room. I have to wait 10 weeks for delivery of the chair as I had to special order the leather I wanted. Enjoy your day & decorating for Christmas as the holiday draws near.

BTW you mentioned you aren’t an American, where are you from? Have you become a citizen since 63 or maintained your other citizenship? I’m curious.
