An After-Class Entry

Remember a few days ago when I was saying I got about a fourth of my test wrong because I didn’t study the numbers? Well, this morning, before she gave the tests back, she said that she had realized that she had not told us to study them because so many people got all the rest correct and missed those. So, she took the number section as a bonus giving one extra point for each two we got right. So, since I knew the months, days and seasons, I finished with 101!

She started conferences today but didn’t get to me. I offered to stay after class but unfortunately for me, today was a day when she was meeting her mother. Anyway, she gave us work today including to write a story from a series of eght pictures she drew. We have to write at least one sentence for each picture. The story is called "La Bella Figura" which means "Looking good!" Apparently la bella figura is very important to italians!

We also have oral reports coming up and being a glutton for punishment, I offered to go on Tuesday of next week.. We cannot read from a paper but we can have cards with the words on them. She will look to see if we are making eye-contact with the class! The report is to be a minute long and on the region we were given. Each week we have had to download something from the web. For example, this week for me iit was a menu from a restaurant called La Brach Ristorente in Palermo, Sicily. We have so far found  information on a harvest festival, a park, a restaurant and next week we add a monument to the list so, you see, we should not be lacking information!

Now I need to rewrite my Fabio and Jessica story since she was kind enough to give me extra time to do this..

How cool is THAT? See? It wasn’t you after all! Yay!!!!! You continue to inspire me as usual. Love to you! ~M

OOOOH, I HATE oral reports! So glad I don’t have to do them any more. I am not a public speaking kind of person!

YEAH!!! Also RYN: I want to see pictures of these sick pants!!

I have two pair of hand-made-lace gloves – one for a child and one for a small-handed adult – made in Palermo, Sicily. They were sent to my mother and I, by a great-uncle, near the end of WW II. I wonder if the people there still make lace.

That’s good that she re-thought the test grades! I still marvel at you writing and telling stories, in as short a time as you have been learning Italian! If I ever take a language course again, I would hope to have a teacher like yours! hugs, Weesprite
