End of the Day
Tomorrow I have to go to Burlington in the afternoon and pick up the silver necklace Fred got me for an anniversary gift. It has a heart on it and I am getting it engraved with the date 6/11/06 and "7th year."
I finished my still-life-from-my-head and just had to dash out and get it from outside on the balcony where I forgot I had left it after spraying it. I overdid the spray a bit but I must say I really like the effect. It is darker than it was but interesting. Photograph tomorrow.
I have tried four times today to enroll for my two classes on line but to no effect. I get right to the last step and then it tells me words to the effect that these classes cannot be enrolled in right now. I am wondering if the email I got was wrong. I thougt I could not enroll on line until the 26th but then I got email saying it was the 24th! Maybe the email was wrong? Anyway, I sent email to the college help desk asking for information so we shall see!
I gave away 20 or so mostly fiction books to Freecycle a couple of days ago. I now have about 15 mostly non-fiction books and someone supposed to be picking them up tomorrow!
I am just started the last book in the Robin Hobbs trilogy about the Liveships. The second book was not as interesting as the first, but I have noticed this is very often true of trilogies. I felt the same about the Lord of the Rings books, too. I have the Assassin series by Hobbs requested as an interlibrary loan. Hmmm, I wonder it they are going to let me know if they can’t get it. I know I always used to let the patrons know if a requested book was unavailable when *I* was the interlibrary loan person.

Wow, if people are giving away free books, I need to check out freecycle more often! I can’t wait to see the still life in your head. I’ll bet it’s interesting. I would imagine that the start of the signup for courses would be the 26th rather than the 24th because that would be Monday instead of Saturday. At least, it makes more sense to me. Good luck getting it sorted out.

Have you read the Naomi Novik series? I think they were His Majesty’s Dragon, Throne of Jade, and Black Powder War. They are Sci-Fi/Fantasy in a Napoleonic War setting, and very entertaining.

I’ve noticed that about the second books too, with them often leaving me feeling as though they were padding everything for effect. Now, we seem to have what I call the ‘Robert Jordan’ syndrome, where series go on and on and on without any end in sight.
