Later
I went out after the Schwan man came {about an hour later than usual} and spent an insane amount of money on art supplies and I don’t have them all yet. But they will all get used and I did buy a couple of things that weren’t on the list.
Next, I went into the college and found that Francis, the student who had borrowed my pencils, kneaded eraser and pencil sharpener had actually left them for me in a little cup with my name on it. So now I am sorry for bad-thoughting him! I really didn’t mind lending him stuff because he was incredibly helpful when we were putzing around with linear perspective and I didn’t understand how to do something. And then I picked up my exam picture.
We were told that for our final we could draw the still-life she set up in the room, we could walk out to Battery Park and draw Lake Champlain, the boats and the Adirondaks or we could do a drawing of our own choice from our imagination or a photograph. I chose the latter. And I did an ink drawing from a photograph of my sister. It took me most of three hours. When I stopped, I felt I should have worked the other half hour but by then I was just plain too tired. I was aware that I did my usual scribble-scribble of a hand right in the foreground that should have been drawn in more detail. Jean mentioned that the thumb was too small but then she went on to say very nice things about my use of the pen to show texture . I was pleased she had noticed that because I HAD worked hard on that, especially on my sister’s hair and the texture of the fabric on the chair where she was sitting.
And Jean gave me an A plus!
I hope my instructor for pastels will be as good as Jean in. Mind you, I am already slightly irritated because I found a misspelling in the downloaded list of supplies needed. But I am not going in with a severely negative attitude. I can learn from anyone. {Mind you, she will have to be excellent to reach the standards Jean set. There wasn’t a single lesson where I didn’t both enjoy the class and learn a new skill.}
When I am a little less tired, or tomorrow, which ever comes first, I will photograph the ink drawing of my sister. If I am putting so many of my pictures here, I should have a chapter called Art…
Until later…
A+!! Woohoo! *dances for you* Awesome! Be well,

ROFLMAO, you found a misspelling in the list of items needed? Cracked me up. I bought something from someone on ebay once and they enclosed their brochure with the item and it has a misspelled word, so I emailed her and told her. lol Just can’t take the teacher out of some people. Glad Francis came through by returning your stuff. hugs r

I can’t wait to see the picture. I hope you can post it here. It always amazes me to see things people have drawn. I can only draw roses and I have no persepecitve. Basically I can’t draw. Your drawings are very very good. I hope that you have a great day!

Art supplies ARE expensive, aren’t they?

WOW!!! Your drawing of the woman is terrific. You do have talent. I couldn’t leave a note on that entry.

I’d love to be able to draw or paint. I just have to be satisfied with taking photos. (Most people around here think that anyone can do that, it’s not ‘art’. *smile* Anyway I hope you have a great trip.

You have no idea how excited I was to click over here and find a diary that wasn’t by a 15 year old girl. It’s rather sad that, upon seeing your diary, I immediately thought “Oh, Ha Ha, another 15 year old being absolutely hilarious and placing ’71’ under age.” I was rather pleased to find that I was mistaken. Not that there’s anything wrong with 15 year-oldÂ’s diaries, I just love the variety.

Oh, and I now must add that I absolutely love the chapter set-up too.
