Random Thoughts:Edited

… while eating toast and drinking coffee and trying to get motivated to get the background of my picture done..

I am listening to the Roches singing the Hallelujah Chorus. They do a great job for singing four parts with three voices! I find myself singing the contralto part along with them… The first live concert I ever went to was a perfomance of The Messiah in the Albert Hall in Liverpool. For some strange reason I was seated in the expensive seats rather than in the "gods" {cheap seats very high up} where students usually sat. When it got to "The trumpet shall sound/And the dead shall be raised" there is a trumpet solo which that day came from a trumpeter up there in the gods. It was skin-prickling awe-inspiringly fantastic. To this day when I hear that piece and hear the trumpet solo, I get the same feelings…

This reminds me that on Tuesday in class I was drawing and listening to the iPod Shuffle. Although I wasn’t aware of it, I was actually quietly humming along with what I was listening to. Julie, the student who was sitting between me and Francis, suddenly burst out loud laughing. Apparently, along with my humming, Francis was energetically putting dots on his picture {a la Van Gogh] to the rhythm of what he was listening to on his iPod. Francis and I both apologised but neither of us were aware of what we were doing! Last night one of the songs I downloaded from ITunes was "Who Wants to Live Forever." I previously had only heard Sarah Brightman sing it. I was surprised that it was, apparently sung first by Queen. I am reminded of this because I am listening to "We are the Champions."

Have I mentioned I love my iPod and my Shuffle? Yes, I thought I had !

Ok, off to finish my drawing…

Edit: You know what is embarrassing? To call American Express all ready to get annoyed because you think there is yet ANOTHER fraudulent charge on your card statement on line only to be told by a polite person that it is a CREDIT  and not a debit.

i think having an ipod or mp3 would be a nice thing. would certainly make walking much easier. music sure does affect us, doesn’t it? i know i’d be lost without music. take care,

Oh my god, I haven’t heard of the Roches in a long, long time. What a great memory. A dear friend of mine, who has since passed on, turned me on to them 🙂

I think that’s neat, painting along to the music. 🙂 !! I have never heard Sarah Brightman, but yea, “Who Wants to Live Forever” was done by Queen, and is in the movie “The Highlander.” And ya can’t beat the Hallelujah chorus for rousing music. 🙂 hugs, Weesprite

The embarrassment is worth it if you have a credit. 🙂

That is too funny about calling the credit card company. It sounds like something I would do! You just can’t be too careful! I love Queen, and I don’t think I have heard that song. I know nothing about iPods, but I am afraid to download music online…don’t wanna go to jail! Maybe I should do some research?!

Better in the account than out! I type in time to my music when I’ve got my headphones on here at work. 🙂 Be well,

I had to laugh at the AE card thing. hehehe, it happens. And music is very relaxing when you listen to things you like.

Oh dear, oops is right. 🙂

(huggles)

Oh yes, that trumpet solo is a wonderful passage. Even better done with a baroque trumpet, which wavers ever so slightly, and is so much more colourful than the cold, perfect modern ones.

I priced iPods and such this past weekend and they are still out of my league. i think it would be cool to have one. I can see people working to the tune they are listening to. It is easy to find yourself moving to a beat of a certain song.

I love ‘We are the champions’. I don’t know if I would have the patience for an ipod. To learn how to use it, download songs, etc. I listen to public radio but it irritates me no end. It’s gotten ill-mannered, stupid and right wing. Oh, dear, I better calm down and listen to some ac/dc. Have a good day. Hi to Fred. And Malcolm.

Oh, that credit card thing sounds so much like something I’d do. LOL!

Hurrah for the credit!

I have got to get one of those ipods. Like most celebrities, I don’t have a clue about them. How DO I get through the day? 🙂
